They need to add another bedroom upstairs. That way when Lane and Zach rent/buy it, there will be a bedroom upstairs for the twins. The bedroom downstairs can be turned into a guest room for Mama Kim, it's too small for the twins.

Yes I know it makes no sense to renovate a house then rent it out, but it's SH where people do odd things all the time

And where would L/L be living??? Twickam house? As much as Luke loved the old house -- I found it creepy -- didn't look any better during the WB tours. I love R/E's wedding present to L/L --

Still like the idea of Rory and "?????" (Logan or Jess) living at the CS.

I love the R/E gift too - but it was technically outside of SH - though closeby. I did like the stable - though Lorelai can ride at the Dragonfly. True: the Twickham house is big. Those columns! However, Lorelai hasn't decorated it yet. Best reason - as he grew up in SH, it's the house that Luke always thought he'd raise a family in - some day.
Besides they need lots of BR's. Visits home from Rory and April ... the twins ... and maybe a #3 (or 4, depending on who's counting).
(Frankly they can live above Luke's forever as far as I'm concerned ... as long as they're together and they're happy!!!)

The Twickham House facade is all different now - the columns are gone, and have been replaced with more generic wooden porch posts. Apparently the old columns and porches were rotted, and instead of restoring them, they decided to replace them altogether. I have a picture of it somewhere... I'll post it for you.

Sorry...Photobucket hates me. Before and after pics - big difference. It looks like something Luke and Lorelai would buy now.

OMG! It was distinct in the film "King's Row" (1942) ... major parts of "Midwest Street" were built for that film. It's the mayor's house in The Music Man (1962). I can see renovating - replacing the columns - but to get rid of the chief architectural feature of Luke's dream house.... I'm not shocked ($$$$ no doubt) - but I am sad and appalled. Never thought I'd say this: where's Taylor Doose when you need him??! (Would love to see the pic damsel - thx!)
Well - the Richard and Emily gift house is looking better all the time. Would Luke ever live in a house given to him by anyone - let alone R/E? Can L/L buy that house themselves?!

They never seem to mention where Luke & Liz grew up. Maybe that house will go up for sale and L/L can buy that one. Wouldn't it be nice for Luke to raise kids where he was raised.

I agree - never mentioned!! Though that means it's also where his parents died.... (and/or where he lived when they died). Plus if he wanted to raise his kids in the same house in which he was raised, he'd have said so.

Even Lorelai wasn't really totally ready to be a couple after L/L got engaged (1st time). Almost the first thing she does is to adopt a dog without asking Luke if he wants to live with a dog. Not "couple-y." IMHO they need to "move on" to the true loving couple + sharing life partner phase of their lives ... and that means leaving all past houses and apartments behind ... settling into 100% pure L/L space. Cause this time they have to get it right!

Damselfly - wow! and thank you!! Hard to believe it's the same house! It's clearly up for some more modern use - the street lamp's gone too. I'll say this much - the house no longer looks so big or overwhelming ... and you can't beat the commute!

Thank you for the pics Damselfly. I agree with you -- a completely different house altogether. I think Lorealai loves the surrounding porch of the CS, but maybe this will work too.

Never in 7 years did we find out which house Luke and Liz were raised. Now that would have been nice, wouldn't it??

I agree they need there own space. Hopefully they go out and pick a beautiful house together. I wonder how long it will take Lorelai to pick out the colors she wants the rooms to be. Oh no, Lorelai and her paint samples
