Luke/Jess appreciation #2 ~ Always there for each other

Quote:
After all Luke was basically the only stable in Jess's life...
I mean, yeah, Liz started getting it together, but when Jess needed her to be reliable she wasn't, and it was Luke who took up that part.
In fact I think a major reason for the friction between Luke-Jess, was because Jess never had someone who trully cared, noticed and was visibly conserned about him first, and Luke being that way might have been uncomfortable for such a teenager.
Very well put. And so true.

Previous thread.

Can I weigh in? My most very favorite Jess/Luke scene ever was after Liz and TJ's wedding in Luke's apartment. That scene said so much without either of them saying much at all. My second most favorite was after TJ's bachelor party in the diner, when Jess told Luke he'd told Rory he loved her.

Two great episodes. I love the men getting ready for the wedding. Jess helping Luke pick out his tie, then throwing out the deodorant when TJ said he used it. Fun memories

One of the best storylines that was ever put on screen was the Jess/Luke storyline. In season 4 it really evolved and one of the most touching scenes was at the end of Last Weeks Fights, This Weeks Tights. I wish Milo could have been around a bit more during the April storyline. I think seeing Luke watching Jess being April's cousin could have been great. Some of Luke's best moments came because of having to deal with the complications that Jess brought with him. We really got to see how much family meant to him.

There wasn't enough when it came to these two.

I have to agree!!!

At moments I found the Luke-Jess relationship far more compelling than the Lorelai-Rory Lorelai-Emily relationships, because I do think that it was more real than those, definitelly healthier than them both and still just as complicated.

Ditto. I love watching Luke and Jess - they were really well-matched, and I thought the casting for Luke/Jess/Liz/Jimmy was great. Jess trading one-liners with April would've been really funny too. So many missed opportunities.

I wish Jess was on longer too. I think Jess and April could have gone toe to toe, with them both being so smart. It would have be fun to see how Luke interacted with them together.
