I've got to say that the Disney Channel sure does know how to butcher a movie. It removed too many good scenes of Scott -- the cleat toss over his SUV into the car; Gil attending meeting for parentscoaches to just let kids play sports; poignant moments with daughter Sarah about his relationship with her and relationship with her mother. Just butchered the movie. We need HBM to be shown in full, without interruption on a better cable station.

I hate it when movies are so cut.

I watched HBM on dvd last night (late) and I've got to tell ya, Disney took out at least 20 minutes of the movie. A lot of little scenes, partial scenes -- majority of them with Scott -- and to me, changed the whole tenor of the movie -- I mean, the movie was about a teenager choosing whether or not to aggressively forge ahead with soccer, but the movie was also giving a lesson to parents of children athletically-inclined. Why did Disney take out the parents' end of things to change it to be solely a teenager rite of passage. It was a silly move, if you ask me.

Yes, well we can't expect Disney to stray from their mission of creating a generation of self-absorbed consumers now can we?

But seriously, what an idiotic decision by the Disney boneheads. I hope some of Disney's 'tween and teen audience is smart enough to know when their collective intelligence is being insulted. Anyway, check out these clips from The Onion, SPA. They'll make you smile at least.

That's sad for the people who aren't locky enough to have the DVD and were waiting for this movie to be finally aired, that so much was cut out.

Many a movie has suffered when it has gone to the small screen, because of edits and cuts for commercials.

I was able to receive an additional copy of HBM from the production company, Summertime Films -- to promote the movie and girls soccer. My sister's little girl plays soccer and baseball and we had a "girls" party, replete with foods that the Gilmore Girls would approve of, and had our finger and toe nails painted before watching the movie. And the girls were very impressed with the soccer matches. All of them chanted they wanted to go "pro". HBM is a great film.
