I loved how Luke was there for Lorelei when her Dad was in the hospital, both times without her even asking him to come with her or to help out.
And how Luke called her right away when April was sick, without even thinking twice about the call, and when she picks up, he just starts babbling. He knows he can talk to her.
Friends first.....they knew and understood each other. They could always count on each other. (at least until they made them a couple)
This is when the writing was at it's best. Situations like that. And you knew exactly how these characters were going to react in the situations because their characters were well developed over time.
