What makes you think that there might not be a DVD? Don't all Tv Shows these days get a DVD release? I mean, it has 18 episodes.

Not all but this season has been different and they is probably not one show (excluding cable) that has had a reduced season. I know several other new shows are coming out on DVD soon but not sure if that will be the same with cancelled shows like AiA.

They should at least have it on iTunes, even Amy's flop tRoJJ is out on Amazon for DL at $1.99 each ep.

The problem is that AiA got absolutely NO coverage, media or the network. They never promoted any of the episodes and didn't even announce whether or not AiA was coming back or not.

"Aliens in America" (CW): America's fifth network had a good development season, but only "Gossip Girl" managed to thrill it; "Reaper" barely got renewed, and "Aliens in America" wasn't given much of a chance. Too bad, because the comedy about a Pakistani Muslim exchange student coming to Wisconsin had loads of potential and a number of very funny episodes. Could the writing have been sharper? Sure. But the CW didn't promote or nurture this series. Oddly enough, it would have worked swell on Fox.

Pretty interesting article about AiA, "Aliens" in the "white world." It's a good read, so you should all check it out.

Aliens in America: The most original sitcom of the 2007-08 season, about a Pakistani exchange student in America's heartland, never really had a chance. It was out of place on the CW, and it probably didn't help that it may have alienated (no pun intended) a lot of the heartland audience it gently poked fun at.

I wonder if this happens often?? Now that a show has been "officially" axed -- does the press come out to discuss it. "Critically acclaimed show" -- "Funniest, innovated comedy"; "Highly talented with new-comers".

Where was this praise and heat directed to TPTB earlier in the season?? Too Little -- Too Late. Hollywood Life sux sometimes.

With AiA I'm feeling flashbacks from 12 months ago and GG, little warning, veiled promises that it 'could' be back knowing the chances are slim and then little warning for us or the cast that it's ending.

How do they think we get shows like Seinfeld and such if they get no promotion and then cancelled early on!

Thanks for all the links Madelynn.

I still can't believe it's ONLY been a year for GG. I feel like it's been 2 or 3 haha
My Tuesdays have been so empty. Not Veronica Mars, no GG.

Looks like Aliens will be shown on the CW during the summer, or part of the summer anyways -- This Sunday is Mom's Coma; and following for the next three weeks (Sundays) with Hunting; Community Theater and 100,000 Miles.

Also, I can report that iTunes has updated the Aliens episodes. All of them are available to download.

Does anyone think that any of these "new" shows will do better than Aliens this Fall on Sunday nites??

Quote:
Media Rights Capital, the third-party firm contracted to program the CW's Sunday line-up, has officially unveiled its plans, and they differ slightly from what was (barely) announced a few weeks ago. Officially, the Sunday block, launching Sept. 14 at 6:30 pm/ET (versus the traditional 7), features:

• In Harm's Way, an unscripted series following people in dangerous or unenviable jobs (avalanche hunters, subway tunnel diggers, Denise Richards' publicist). I think people would have more fun watching the fights between ex's Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards, instead of either of their shows -- both on the CW by-the-way.

• Surviving Suburbia, a comedy based on a long-ago dismissed pilot about a grumpy husband and father. "A dismissed pilot" -- wow, where have we heard that phrase before. Does that mean that Surviving Suburbia comes to the plate with 2 strikes against it from the start?

• Valentine, Inc., a romantic comedy in which the Greek gods Aphrodite and her son Eros run an Earth-bound dating service. Wanna guess how many people are going to ask "Who are Aphrodite and Eros?" and "Why are they wearing togas??"

• Easy Money, about a family of loan sharks — including a middle son who's uneasy about their line of work. Great, we have a tv series of the Godfather -- this ought to be "fun".

What's your take? Anything striking your fancy? Or do you need to hear some casting first?
link

I don't think any have a snowball's chance in Hades. Great family shows, right?

It would have been more sound to continue Aliens who was established with critical acclaim -- they just needed help from the network to promote them.

It astounds me that the CW is still alive -- I predict short lived unless someone who knows what they ae doing buys the network.

ITA they should have had the balls to keep Aliens alive, promote it and they could have had a good show on their hands that keep on going and getting better.

OT - when does the "Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards" one start, there is something starting here in June with Denise Richards about her personal life is this the same thing? Because it would be weird to start her before in the US.

I have no idea I refuse to watch reality TV.

I doubt they'll do any better but the CW doesn't care.

Hello. I'm not sure where I should post this, but I went over to the What A Pair event tonight in LA. It was a really great show for a great cause. No Lauren Graham sightings, but there was a lot of "6 Degrees of Gilmore Girls." Kathleen Wilhoite, Jane Lynch, Emily Bergl, and Samantha Shelton were all part of the show tonight. Not to mention Amy Pietz was also there. During the after party we did have a chance to speak with her and what a sweet, sweet lady she is! First of all, she has an amazing voice. She sang In My Life with Lea Thompson. It was beautifully done. After the show, we spoke with her for a little bit and told her we enjoyed her performance. She asked each of us in our group for our names, and was very touched and appreciative of our kind words. After that we moved on to talking about Aliens In America, and we told her we'd miss her on TV next year. She was very sad that the show was over and said she was really going to miss it. She said it isn't easy for her to find writing she really enjoys, and she loved the writing on Aliens. She said that she misses working in Canada and also really misses the cast. She especially missed working with Scott. We wished her luck in her future endeavors and she said to keep our fingers crossed, but she would be on TV again! She emphasized what a great cause the show was for and asked that we return next year. We promised her we would, and before we left, we got her phone number.

It was a great night all around and Amy definitely showed us what a truly genuine person she is! We're already looking forward to next year!

How great Wanda that you got to meet Amy, she sounds very delightful. It's nice to hear that she enjoyed working on Aliens with Scott and the rest of the cast. Hopefully we will indeed see her as well as Scott and the kids on TV again soon. (not sure when Adhir begins on Nip/Tuck)
