Thanks Razzle. It's nice to know I'm not crazy. So how about it KbatMo? You cheeky monkey...

BTW, found a link to the Jeffrey Sachs Real Time segment. It's safe viewing. YouTube - Real Time: Jeffrey Sachs Interview April 25, 2008

Well said, well spoken, Jeffrey! From your lips to everyone's ears, I say.

Thanks for highlighting the fact that Scott chose JS as one of his choices, Kbat.

Thanx for the link NGNM. I love Jeffrey -- and he does make a lot of "common sense". I wish more people would listen to him.

Another nice round of answers!!! This is a great thread.

SPcg - I'd love to go to Tenerife! (Malta, too....!) Now I've got something to envy you about - genuinely!!!
Tarty - great pix - "The White Album" - you cannot go wrong. Believe I know all lyrics by heart w/exception of Revolution #9 (who does?!) OOOH - that reminds me - the song "Revolution" (#1) - whether slower version on white album or faster version issued as single = honorary addition to my 3 most influential songs (can I have a 3a and 3b?!) It's the first time I ever heard someone say - 'It's great to be an idealist ... but show me the plan!' Also 'change for the sake of change, e.g., to totalitarian regimes, does not count as change!!' (And vive Rocky Raccoon!)
SPA - so glad you liked Jeffrey! ngnm - thanks so much for bringing that over!!!

KbatMO, i love Tenerife. I was already three times on this dreamlike island. Always in the green north. To see the volcano and the whole scenery in the sphere is a real experience.

1. What is the most unusual name you have ever given a pet, and what type of animal was it?

My 4-H cat was named Rat. I named him that because of his coloring (white with orange-ish ears). When I first found him in a haystack, I thought it was a rat, and the name stuck.

2. What emblem/object/picture do you have on your key ring/chain?

My key ring is a mess. I have a 3 leaf clover, which is the symbol of a local Irish restaurant I frequent; a life's short, pray fast key ring; a Seattle Mariners Moose; a Celtic cross; and a belt hook/clip thingy with Class of 2004 embroidered on it.

3. What is one new thing you have learned about yourself in 2008?

My inner strength is 100 times what I thought it was, oh, and according to certain people, I'm the princess of gab, even though I think I'm pretty quiet/shy in real life.

4. From his interviews, what fact about Scott surprises you the most?

What doesn’t surprise me about Scotty P? I guess it would be his taste in music. I would never have pinned him as a guy that likes opera music.

1. What is the most unusual name you have ever given a pet, and what type of animal was it?
My small pygmy rabbit is called Milo. Why? I don't know. Maybe because of the big ones brown eyes.

2. What emblem/object/picture do you have on your key ring/chain?
Around the neck I carry a chain with a medallion. On my keyring there is a follower with the logo of my favorite soccer team.

3. What is one new thing you have learned about yourself in 2008?
What have I learnt about myself? The fact that I can enjoy my life also as a single. I try to think every day positively. This was a long process after the separation. But now it properly goes well to me, and I am happy.

4. From his interviews, what fact about Scott surprises you the most?
Scott plays the guitar and composed music. And he was as a child Leadsinger in a rock band. This was for me the biggest, but also a nice surprise. For me was clear, I would hear him so with pleasure once singing. Or imagines you, we sit everything in comfortable round and Scott something plays for us on the guitar.

1. What is the most unusual name you have ever given a pet, and what type of animal was it?

I had a cat named "Calico" and it wasn't for the calico markings -- it was for the tufts of fur that would just not tame themselves. Since she was a girl, I had to make a feminine derivative of the word.

2. What emblem/object/picture do you have on your key ring/chain?

My key ring is a mess also -- something that Scooter and I share in common. My L.A. Dodger initials -- It's the first thing I reach for when I want to grab my keys.

3. What is one new thing you have learned about yourself in 2008?

I've learned to ask for help the second I realize that projects or situations are just too large for me to handle alone. I usually haven't done that in the past.

4. From his interviews, what fact about Scott surprises you the most?

How well versed he is in World affairs. I always knew the man was intelligent, but he seems to be a sponge for knowledge, and dives into that just as much as he dives into living life itself. As well as the secret to his youthfulness (where is his Fountain of Youth???)

Everyone has given some great answers so far.

1. What is the most unusual name you have ever given a pet, and what type of animal was it?

When I was 6, my family went to a restaurant that gave me a small goldfish in a small bowl. My first pet! (And only one for the next 12 years!) I named him Howard, after my swimming instructor ... who - in my mind's eye - was pretty hot looking; seems to have been very nice; and definitely taught me how to swim! It's not an unusual name - except perhaps for a goldfish?!

p.s. He lived for 3 weeks. I was warned about not overfeeding him - but I loved feeding him! He had the same funeral as a goldfish on the Cosby show ... flush!

2. What emblem/object/picture do you have on your key ring/chain?

My key ring doesn't have anything interesting on it except a plastic stretchy spiral that helps me find it faster when I reach into my handbag. But I have a necklace I wear sometimes that has an unusual charm - identical to one my father wore on his key chain. It was made by the company owned by my father and his 2 brothers ... and I was thrilled to find it on e-bay decades after it was made!

It looks like a little glass cylinder, about 1" high, 3/8" radius, with small gold caps at either end. (If this were the 1970s....!) My last name is etched into one of the gold caps that keeps it closed very snugly. It contains a small gold heart, a small strip of gold with etch marks, and what appear to be a couple of pebbles - 1 white, 1 brown. What they are /represent: a heart of gold, the golden rule, a grain of sea salt (= salt of the earth), and a mustard seed (= faith)

3. What is one new thing you have learned about yourself in 2008?

Regardless of the subject matter - I love, love, love to write! Also: Apparently I'm a "queen of gab" (dunno how anyone could get that idea) ... and a "cheeky monkey" (ditto) Apparently I've earned a couple of more monikers: "psycho-fan" (of baseball) (I think?!) ... also "psycho-fan of the 'Evil Empire'" (EE = aka The NY Yankees; not the former Soviet Union) (I think?)

4. From his interviews (and messages to fans), what fact about Scott surprises you the most?

That he believes in God and seems to pray often; that for a good cause he'll exhort others to do the same; & that once he told a fan her note to him nearly made him cry. (Actually, both the admission and the fact surprised me greatly!) Was also very surprised when I first learned he'd written about 500 songs! (That's a lot of songs!)
UMMMM - may I amend this to include the entire message received from Scott yesterday evening - from start to finish!!!!!!!!

Week 7

1. What is the most unusual name you have ever given a pet, and what type of animal was it?

When I was a wee lass (okay 12, maybe not so wee, but a lass nonetheless), I had a hamster named Oblio after a character from the movie The Point. I loved that movie. Does anyone else remember The Point…The Pointless Forest…Me and My Arrow?

2. What emblem/object/picture do you have on your key ring/chain?

I have a blue mini Swiss Army knife on my key ring.

3. What is one new thing you have learned about yourself in 2008?

I have learned that I completely suck at forum quote hangman. Also I am letting my hair grow long after many years of shorter hair, and it just wants to poof out (curly hair) instead of lay down. Apparently, I have become quite the tumbleweed....whatever.

4. From his interviews, what fact about Scott surprises you the most?

That Scott is such a Renaissance man. From his taste in music to books he has read to all the different sports he has been involved in, he has such a wide range of interests and talents. And he’s a gracious human being. That man is some kind of wonderful!!

Week 7 - Part Deux

5. A recent interview listed Scott’s signature dish as teriyaki salmon. What is your “signature dish”?

Lasagna.

6. Are you an ‘early to bed and early to rise’ type of person or a ‘night owl’ type of person?

Definitely night owl. I worked the graveyard shift for many years, although I work mostly during the day now.

7. What is your favorite fresh fruit?

Banana.

8. In old Hollywood, actors often took a “stage name” or changed their birth name. What first name would you give Scott (other than Scott or Luke) as a “stage name”?

Jack.

9. What is your most prized possession? Why?

My grandmother’s ring. She had four daughters and one beloved daughter-in-law, and before grandma passed she couldn’t decide who to give her ring to. Grandma’s eldest daughter suggested that she give it to her namesake which is me. Grandma passed two years ago, and I will always cherish her gift to me.

10. What is your favorite current television show (other than Aliens in America)?

House. (There must be something about grumpy intelligent guys.)

5. A recent interview listed Scott’s signature dish as teriyaki salmon. What is your “signature dish”?

Chesapeake Bay Super Jumbo Crab Cakes

6. Are you an ‘early to bed and early to rise’ type of person or a ‘night owl’ type of person?

I'm nocturnal by nature, but lately have been burning candles at both ends. I'm too old to be doing that too. Gonna catch up to me.

7. What is your favorite fresh fruit?

Strawberries

8. In old Hollywood, actors often took a “stage name” or changed their birth name. What first name would you give Scott (other than Scott or Luke) as a “stage name”?

"Shooter"

9. What is your most prized possession? Why?

A "Possession"?? My car -- Pointiac G6 GTP -- Considering that the Metropolitan Washington DC area has been declared the Nation's worst commuting area, this car has just about everything I could want in the car. Nice ride -- fantastic stereo system, even XM Radio to listen to my baseball games and/or any type of music imaginable. Ask Tracie, who's travelled wth me in it and Lulu who has also experienced a ride in one. It's a great car to be stuck in traffic with.

10. What is your favorite current television show (other than Aliens in America)?

Cold Case Files. If I ever want to be a blonde again, I really would like hair like Kathryn Morris. It's a great show.

Love(d) "The Point" (Love everything Nilsson - truth be known) and of course Me and My Arrow (!) - both The Point and the car ads! I have "The Point" in vinyl ... somewhere. Also his song "Girlfriend" w/lyrics that he adapted as theme for "The Courtship of Eddie's Father". And - his version of his very own "One [is the loneliest number]" is the best version - bar none IMHO. Nilsson, Schmilsson ... A little touch of Schmilsson in the night! Great albums!!!

OK - part deux, le voila!!!

5. A recent interview listed Scott’s signature dish as teriyaki salmon. What is your “signature dish”?

"Hello - do you deliver?" (NY'er transplanted in Miami - whaddya expect?!) I s'pose PB and J isn't a good answer either, huh?! Seriously - I've made a couple of amazing Thanksgiving dinners - all the bells and whistles - all from scratch. Turkey, sweet potato puree, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, etc. Also - a very good risotto, I think - tho' it's been a while! Ooh - I always get raves for my homemade cole slaw - based on my Grandma's recipe!

6. Are you an ‘early to bed and early to rise’ type of person or a ‘night owl’ type of person?

Again, pathetic answer: neither!! Definitely do not like to rise early! Wouldn't say I'm a night owl but 'early to bed' isn't accurate either. How about "afternoon delight"?!!!!

7. What is your favorite fresh fruit?

Blueberries

8. In old Hollywood, actors often took a “stage name” or changed their birth name. What first name would you give Scott (other than Scott or Luke) as a “stage name”?

Don't wanna! I love ScottyP! Okay: Humphrey, Shlomo, Orville, Dweezil, or Ish (after "Ish Kabibble")

9. What is your most prized possession? Why?

A couple of pins my father gave me and other memorabilia from his business; a bracelet my Mom gave me; and my Grandma's (sewing) thimble. Also - old family photos; a book my father once gave my mother with a lovely inscription; my Mom's buffet (her favorite piece of furniture).

10. What is your favorite current television show (other than Aliens in America)?

Tough one! 30 Rock I guess. Also like Without a Trace, Numb3rs. (I like Cold Case Files too!) Love Stephen Colbert!!!

5. A recent interview listed Scott’s signature dish as teriyaki salmon. What is your “signature dish”?

Fruit salsa and cinnamon sugar tortilla chips

6. Are you an ‘early to bed and early to rise’ type of person or a ‘night owl’ type of person?

I'm usually in bed by 10:30-11ish but lately I've been staying up until 1am or later and having a very difficult time sleeping. I've gotten maybe 4 hours of sleep a night all week.

7. What is your favorite fresh fruit?

I'm totally weird, but I will cut up a lemon eat the entire thing with no salt or anything on it. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! Otherwise it's honeydew.

8. In old Hollywood, actors often took a “stage name” or changed their birth name. What first name would you give Scott (other than Scott or Luke) as a “stage name”?

Lucky (I dunno why, first thing that came to mind!)

9. What is your most prized possession? Why?

That would be my grandpa's Bible that I inherited when my grandma passed last year. He died when my mom was just a baby so I feel like I'm connecting with him when I look at his Bible and see his favorite verses underlined. My personalized autograph picture of Scott comes in a very close second.

10. What is your favorite current television show (other than Aliens in America)?

Just one???? Bones! I've just gotten into this show and LOVE it!
