Interviews:

Just one last question here. Now, I know you can’t tell us who Lucas invited to Las Vegas, obviously, but do you think the fans will be happy with how that storyline plays out?

You know Don, I really hope so. I know that there’s a danger in -- One of the staples of our show and the staples of television in general has been the love triangle. For us it became a love rectangle, which was my version and the show’s version of trying to turn that dynamic on its head a little bit. I think at the end of last season no one would have expected Lindsey, no one would have expected the introduction of someone else that Lucas was interested in and that Lucas loved. Whether the fans loved it or hated it or whether they felt like it worked, I always felt it was a way of challenging the audience and yet still giving them the show they sort of love. Obviously, I’m not stupid about this stuff and I don’t make these decisions lightly, I know that if Lucas picks one person, that changes the dynamic that the audience has been familiar with for a long, long time. The relationship and who Lucas picks will frame the season for a lot of fans. For the ones that are happy, it’ll be a great season. For the ones that wish he would have picked someone else, the season will suck. I would just urge them to look beyond that and look at what we’re doing as a show. I mean, when you watch the first three episodes, it’s undeniable that this is still a relevant, risky, forward thinking show. I think that this season is once again a really challenging, forward thinking season of One Tree Hill.

There were a lot of new characters introduced last season. Is there anyone new joining this year?

We will meet some new faces along the way, sure. One of them is John Doe, who is playing Nick Wolfe, who may or may not be Peyton’s biological father. And I think that that’s very much at the center of the storyline, is they expect him to be her father but he’s not very forthcoming as a character with that information. The question is why is that the case when he clearly made a choice to reach out to Peyton. So we plan to see John earlier than later in the season. We’ll see the return of Daphne Zuniga’s character, Victoria, which is really great. Above and beyond that, we will see some new characters. One of them is a character named Samantha, who is being played by Ashley Rickards. She’s a younger character, I always think it’s important to keep younger characters in the show while the show has aged. You still have a young fan base that’s interested in those stories, and so Samantha is going to be a high school student that we’re going to meet early on and tell stories about her as well.

Regardless, a Peyton pregnancy will give back Mark his tragic Peyton. He'll be able to see the pain in Hilarie's eyes again. He loves that. He won't pass that up.
Is that why Mark is so lazy with Brooke's storyline?

Thanks for the new thread. I just finished reading the last thread and I feel like I'm suffering from a major depression lol Not to bring it back up, but I agree with those that said they wont watch unless Chad is on the show. But I seriously doubt any of the other actors will sign back on without some of their long time co-stars. Hasnt Sophia been dying to leave for a while now? Her interest, it seems, lies in movies. I dont see her still being tired down to the show when she has no obligation to be there.

I dont watch a lot of shows, OTH is the only show I've been following for a while now but do shows actually continue on without some main characters? I mean, unless its really early in the series, I dont remember a show that returned with only some of the actors after the expiration of their contracts. If they come back, they all come back, if one or more leaves, they all leave. Didnt that happen with Gilmore Girls? Lauren Graham said that she wont sign back on without Alexis?

Ok this has been bothering me for a bit. If Peyton is dead set on Mick being her daddy then shouldn't she be kind of pissed at him? I mean he left her and Derek right?

It's funny. Half the last thread was spent discussing whether we'd rather Luke die, is shipped off with the military, Peyton end up a pregnant widow and getting closer to Julian, or some variation of the Peyton as a single mum storyline. Wow. That was depressing. Maybe I'm just naive but I'm still pretty confident that we get the LP wedding and the ride off in the comet together, lo.

Her father and Ellie gave Peyton up for adoption, I don't know if you're suppose to be mad at your birth parents about that (plus, I'm sure she "dealt" with this issue when she found out Anna/Larry weren't her birth parents). I think Derek mentioned their father walked out on his mom/him, so he can have resentment, I guess.

We are a very far and few and mostly quiet bunch to come by. I just don't see the point in being a pessimistic speculationist until there is given reason/facts to think that. I mean I wouldn't call myself an optomist, but at least I'm not Debbie Downer.

But if there is a season seven without Chad, they have do something with his character. We were just discussing options with what they would do. Not sure how that is depressing or being negative?

If is the key word. Why even think that far ahead, especially when it's negatively (it's one thing to throw out a spec, but it's another to discuss it in depth for 3 pages). Also, I recall discussions how LP are doomed because of the 605 clip / Julian's casting. The Hil S/S thread used to be about facts, sarcasm, random things (see ep discussion threads), but now it's just Debbie Downer material.

If there's a season 9 and Hilarie's hair falls out, how will that affect LP? Discuss away.

But a season seven without Chad seems to be a very real possibility.

I don't know. When I was part of the discussion of what that would mean for the show and for Peyton, none of my specs were meant to be negative. It was just speculation, like I would for any spoiler. Talking about Lucas dying or joinin the military isn't depressing or negative to me. And since we know Julian is a reality, speculating about what he could mean for L/P isn't negative or depressing to me either. But I guess I need to realize not everyone feels that way.
