Interviews:

Just one last question here. Now, I know you can’t tell us who Lucas invited to Las Vegas, obviously, but do you think the fans will be happy with how that storyline plays out?

You know Don, I really hope so. I know that there’s a danger in -- One of the staples of our show and the staples of television in general has been the love triangle. For us it became a love rectangle, which was my version and the show’s version of trying to turn that dynamic on its head a little bit. I think at the end of last season no one would have expected Lindsey, no one would have expected the introduction of someone else that Lucas was interested in and that Lucas loved. Whether the fans loved it or hated it or whether they felt like it worked, I always felt it was a way of challenging the audience and yet still giving them the show they sort of love. Obviously, I’m not stupid about this stuff and I don’t make these decisions lightly, I know that if Lucas picks one person, that changes the dynamic that the audience has been familiar with for a long, long time. The relationship and who Lucas picks will frame the season for a lot of fans. For the ones that are happy, it’ll be a great season. For the ones that wish he would have picked someone else, the season will suck. I would just urge them to look beyond that and look at what we’re doing as a show. I mean, when you watch the first three episodes, it’s undeniable that this is still a relevant, risky, forward thinking show. I think that this season is once again a really challenging, forward thinking season of One Tree Hill.

There were a lot of new characters introduced last season. Is there anyone new joining this year?

We will meet some new faces along the way, sure. One of them is John Doe, who is playing Nick Wolfe, who may or may not be Peyton’s biological father. And I think that that’s very much at the center of the storyline, is they expect him to be her father but he’s not very forthcoming as a character with that information. The question is why is that the case when he clearly made a choice to reach out to Peyton. So we plan to see John earlier than later in the season. We’ll see the return of Daphne Zuniga’s character, Victoria, which is really great. Above and beyond that, we will see some new characters. One of them is a character named Samantha, who is being played by Ashley Rickards. She’s a younger character, I always think it’s important to keep younger characters in the show while the show has aged. You still have a young fan base that’s interested in those stories, and so Samantha is going to be a high school student that we’re going to meet early on and tell stories about her as well.

Thanks for the new thread.

I kinda...don't like that clip at all. I mean, they're adorable together but..

Why isn't he thrilled about the wedding date? He should be. Then he could worry about whatever he wanted to but in that particular moment he should be thrilled, as we've seen Peyton thrilled with all things Lucas Scott this season so far. I hate how vague they've been writing him.

And he never apologized to Peyton for hurting her, but now he's telling HER how worried he is about crushing poor Lindsey? Seriously! I agree that he was not himself last season, but that applies not only to his behavior towards Peyton but Lindsey as well. So now that the old Lucas is back, why does Lindsey deserve an apology and Peyton doesn't?!

Sorry for the rant. Well, I hope there's more to the scene and it's good.

About the s3 finale, I hate to say it(really), but I thought reliable sources on this forum had told us those secret LP scenes as well as that BP scene where B is ok with Peyton being in love with Lucas were made up by fans and the scenes never existed.(?) Maybe Rebecca could confirm it...

I pretty much agree with this. The guy was ready to marry Peyton right then and there not too long ago. Now he is sounding worried about it being quick? I think using the news of the wedding date being set as a transistion to Lucas being worried about breaking this news to Lindsey was bad. Like you said, they could of had him initially as happy about it as Peyton is and then it hits him that he really will have to tell Lindsey now.

And it goes back to inconsistent writing. Lindsey should of been brought up in 601-604. Now it is just all of the blue and goes against what we have seen from Lucas (yet again) so far this season. I think that for me, Lucas's reaction in that kitchen scene could be helped by what he says to Lindsey and how he acts when he gets back home to Peyton.

I'm also still interested to see how this book tour ends up playing out. Will Lindsey make him be on it for the wedding date? If so, will he stay on the book tour the whole time or does he cut it short by the end of 606 because Lindsey isn't letting him not be on it for the wedding date? If ends up doing the whole tour, I would think there has to be a pretty big time jump from 606-607.

My guess is that he tells Peyton they're going to have to change the date to after the tour is over. I guess Mark is going to drag this wedding out until the very end. If the wedding isn't until 617 at least, then the date is probably pushed back.

I think there was talk of going another route for BP; as in, Brooke not getting super pissed at Peyton and reacting completely differently. No slapping, or tantrums, or whatnot. Any truth to that? If so, I wonder why they scrapped it.
Do you want to know why some people thought this? Sophia (as she often did back then) told some friends who were BP fans that BP were going to be fine. They were asking her about the promo where B slaps P and she reassured them BP were going to be fine. No one knows why she said this, because I seriously doubt any scenes were filmed showing this. We've all seen the scripts and we know how Mark works. Mark scraps bits and pieces here, but nothing that major that would have been the complete opposite of what happened.

The one scene that was in the script for sure that was cut (or never filmed) was a flashback scene of Karen remembering when she told Dan about being pregnant with Lucas.

Gotta go to work. Everyone, have a good day!!!

This is such gutless writing in my opinion. First it was the cheesy Vegas chapel wasn't good enough, then it will be the book tour and then it will possibly be Julian causing trouble for L/P. All done to put off this wedding as long as possible. Like last season, the triangle may be dead and never to return but that doesn't mean that other things won't be used to pander.

I don't mind them having to push the date back, but I wish Lucas did not frown and give a "wow, that's quick" response when he heard they church was booked and ready.

Any title suggestions?

What makes even less sense with Lucas's reaction is in one breath, he seems to not like that the wedding date is set but then in the next breath, he tells Peyton he wants to marry her right then? So, I guess his reaction is solely because he knows he has to tell Lindsey when he sees her that day. I guess that helps a little, it isn't really anything to do with marrying Peyton that he thinks is too quick, it is just that the news makes him realize he has to face reality with Lindsey.

I'm interested to know what else happens in the episode. If they're going to push the wedding date back, there has to be some good conversation between them in that regards. And I'm afraid it'll be a little too much. First his reaction to the date is blah, then he decides to push it back. Maybe that explains that "concerned" look in Peyton's face in the bed stills? Or maybe not... I just don't want them to drag this to other episodes, like having her disappointed but pretending everything is fine for God knows how long. That would just annoy me, it's too much Luke/Lorelai for me, but I don't see it happening, thankfuly.

Amanda, that's the way it came across to me. It's not that he's upset that him and Peyton setting a date, or that him and Peyton are getting married. It's because he can no longer put off having to tell and face Lindsey. If I were him, I'd want to avoid that as much as possible, too..considering how things went down.

Luke/Lorelai were so frustrating. Lorelai didn't say a word about ow she was feeling, and it was super annoying, and Luke was super oblivious.

My biggest problem with this clip is when he proposed to Lindsey, he never cared about the devastation on Peyton's face and he never attempted to see her to check if she was okay. Then when SHE went to see him, he threw it in her face, saying that he loves Lindsey, when she was crying in his face. Haley then proceeded to throw in her face that she was maid of honor. I just don't understand it, because he is considering how Lindsey will feel about the LP engagement, and how it wouldn't be right to say it over the phone. Hell, I would have atleast felt some happiness had he called Peyton last season to say he was engaged to Lindsey. He never even attempted to do that. How can we reconcile this?

At least he's actually going to be man enough and tell her to her face.

The LL engagement and who Lindsey is, is very different to me than the LP engagement and who Peyton is. I don't think there will ever be satisfactory actions from Lucas about this, because there aren't any. By Lucas finally making his choice and seeing what was in his heart, he basically made Lindsey a fool. Lindsey never did anything to intentionally hurt him and Mark is going to use that to the fullest capacity. He sees Lucas having to face Lindsey and tell her as good drama, when most of us could care less.

Yes, I think that is what they are defintely going for in that scene. Like always, there was probably a better way to show that from Lucas but I don't think there intention is to show Lucas wavering about marrying Peyton at all.
