SEASON PREMIERE - “ONE TREE HILL” — (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET)
“Touch Me I’m Going To Scream, Part 1” (TV-14, DL) (HDTV)

WHICH GIRL DID LUCAS CHOOSE? — The girl of Lucas’ (Chad Michael Murray) dreams shows up at the airport. Nathan’s (James Lafferty) comeback is halted by news that could change his career, while Dan’s (Paul Johansson) life hangs in the balance. Mouth (Lee Norris) and Millicent (Lisa Goldstein) wrestle with leaving Tree Hill, as Brooke (Sophia Bush) and Victoria’s (guest star Daphne Zuniga) battle over Clothes Over Bros comes to a surprising head. Bethany Joy Galeotti, Hilarie Burton, Antwon Tanner also star. Stuart Gillard directed the episode written by Mark Schwahn

I'm opening this thread early because - 1)It's the premiere! & 2) I'm going to be busy moving to my new place tomorrow and I might forget to open the thread.

Enjoy the episode. We all look forward to reading your comments!

No bashing of REAL people which includes actors, MARK, and fanbases.

I don't even know if we really needed a new one. Don't know if anyone has anything more to say. I'll top it for now. Don't know if it needs to be.

First of all I loved the spamming at the end of the thread Lexi

About the episode, can I discuss what I thought about all the apsects, even outside Peyton? Because it's really hard to go into the main speculation thread in the OTH section.

I'll start with my least favorite part of the episode which was Brooke or maybe it was Dan/Carrie, who knows. I don't understand how Mark spent half of the episode with the Dan/Carrie gruesome scenes, which came out looking comical, instead of focusing on NHJ, who did not get many family scenes this episode. I will give Torrey props though, for being the nuttiest psycho this show has ever had

About Brooke, I really think I dislike how over the top her character is sometimes. I actually enjoy Brooke when she is grounded but when she starts acting like a diva it just is baffling to me as to how people call her selfless when she looks all about herself. I did however enjoy her scene was Haley for once and her reaction to LP (geez this girl is really secretly in love with Lucas huh?). I also did feel sorry for her when I saw the promo for the next episode.

I absolutely LOVED LP in this episode and it reminded me of how cheesy and blissed out they were in season 4. It just proved to me that LP are IT, Lucas was never so happy as he was with Peyton. It was just amazing from start to finish and there was something about their chemistry lastnight that was absolutely incredible. They were the best part of the episode, basically the only good part. For me LP is OTH, and without them the show just doesn't make any sense. Take away LP from the premiere and the rest of it is garbage

And here I sit, trying to figure out how "I want to be selfish with you for right now" translates into "Lucas is only ever selfish with Peyton, because she brings out the worst in him." Try and figure that one out, because I sure can't.
I had to laugh out loud at this because it's so obviously grasping at desparate straws. I don't understand how wanting to focus your love on one person is seen as selfish. If that is selfish than so it be; it's better than Lucas spreading his love to Brooke and Lindsey while he is with Peyton by means of being selfless. I am getting tired of hearing how selfless Brooke or Lindsey are in terms of Lucas, when the truth is they settled for whatever little love he could give them, since they had to share him with Peyton. Lucas' most selfish times is when he is with Brooke or Lindsey or insert another girl because he ends up lying and cheating, hurting people and going about things the wrong way by means of hiding from the truth. When LP are together no one gets hurt because they are focused on each other and Lucas doesn't bother to share himself with other women. The End.

I just finished watching the epi. GAWWWWDDDD!

LP is just the loveliest and the greatest couple i've ever seen! Being an uber LP fan I quote Lucas what said to Peyton "I wanna be selfish with you" because I only watched the LP scenes and everytime they switch to the other characters I go read this thread then when I hear LP talking I go right away to watch again. Hahahaha. ;lol:

Hilarie giggles a lot in this episode. I particularly love her giggle in the airport!

You know, I got a bone to pick. This may come off as a mini-rant, so I apologize in advance.

I resent the fact that things like "peyton said I love you more than he did", or "Lucas is just going with everything Peyton wants" is being said. Why do we care and why is that a big deal? Girls in general are more vocal about their feelings, and besides, I'm sorry, but actions speak louder than words. Lucas has proposed to Peyton three times. THREE. what bigger action do you as a declaration of love? wanting someone to spend the rest of their life with you, says much more than "I love you" ever will. and as far as Lucas going with everything Peyton wants, well..that's his version of groveling. He screwed up big time last year, and even if they'll never talk about it (which they will and semi already have) he's apologizing in his actions. He's making up for lost time and finally has his priorities straight.

When you love someone, you do things to make them happy. to see them happy makes YOU happy. so this crap about him only pleasing her, is just not true. he's pleasing himself too. He wants to be with her, and is willing to do what it takes for it to work. God forbid a guy be accomodating!

i think that's all.

For me overall it was a good premiere episode, but it did lack some balance in terms of some characters getting enough screen time. I enjoyed the music choices and in the end how the cliffhangers played out, but then there was also that psycho Steven King horror movie feel to some things which made me laugh, because they were just handled so poorly.

The dream sequences did serve a purpose of showing why Lucas made the choice he did, although personally I’m not a fan of devices like that to show why a character does something. However it was nice to get inside Lucas’ head for a change, which is something the show often fails to do sometimes. The LL dream showed for me that he was just running from trying to make anything harder work. Lucas’ relationship with her was “easy” but not necessarily full of meaning. The BL dream for me showed that they couldn’t make each other the focus of their own lives. They were a power couple, but they were not content. The LP dream just seemed to have a comfort. Their lives weren’t extraordinary, or spectacular in any way, but they were just happy.

Lucas and Peyton were just amazing to me. It was so great to see them together and happy again. I love to see them have angst, but when they’re together, especially in the early stages I think this is how it should be. They enjoyed each other so much and all the bad stuff that had passed between them was put on the backburner. I hope last seasons stuff is talked about at some point, but for now they’re in that happy early relationship phase and it was nice to see. I do enjoy seeing Lucas’ romantic streak in full flow sometimes and I’m pleased he eventually realised that it would not be right to get married in Vegas. People will say it’s weak of Peyton to run to Lucas, but I’d argue that to hold onto what your heart truly feels when all hope is lost requires more strength than almost anything else. She held out that hope all these years for both of them and eventually Lucas came back to her. If she felt that in her heart and still truly loved him; then to me that is very strong.

NH had some cute moments in the episode, but they didn’t quite get the airtime that I know NH fans in particular would want. I’m sure we’ll get more of them soon, but I think in this episode they were literally just playing a supporting role, which is somewhat disappointing for a premiere episode. I loved Haley dancing and Nathan going on about “the porn guy” was hilarious with Skills stood right there.

Brooke’s struggles with her mom were actually interesting in this episode; it’s the one time where she has a storyline that might develop into something very real and traumatic. It’s hard not to point the finger at Vicki for the attack at the end and I guess eventually we will find out, but I’m not buying that as any coincidence. I am routing for her on this one, because nobody deserves parents like her mother. I’m also hoping we can see at least some human emotions in the storyline from her mother, not anything cartoony like we had last season at times and that we now get from Dan.

Brooke/Haley were cute and I loved their reaction to LP’s texts, it’s nice to see Brooke has a friend there right now, as it seems everyone is leaving her. I thought it was interesting to see Brooke so happy in response to LP, not even a momentary hint of sadness about it for what I saw.

The Dan/Carrie stuff was an absolute joke to me, basically the movie Misery gone wrong. I don’t know where this endless pool of psycho’s comes from near Tree Hill, but who would ever move there. These kind of storylines really annoy me now, there has just been too many of them. The only thing I enjoyed seeing was Dan ball up his fist. I will enjoy it when he finally disposes of Carrie, but I would have preferred for her not to return and just see Dan’s heart transplant drama play out.

Skills and Deb were kind of funny, but I’m not a fan of them. It seems like one of those relationships of convenience that has been contrived to bring some humour to the show. The saving grace is that at least it does bring a little humour. The scenes between them and the scenes with Nathan showing outrage did add that bit of lightness to things.

Mouth/Millicent don’t interest me particularly and if they leave I don’t think it’s a big loss at all. Mouth’s storylines just annoyed me for the most part last season and yet I wouldn’t begrudge him a happy ending. He’s just not really a character I would miss for the most part. Millicent was a little more interesting though, but not a necessity.

I’d have to say that as a LP fan I loved the episode, but I can see how others wouldn’t since it really was very LP centric at times. However I thought it was a nice start to the season in terms of laying out future plotlines and showed plenty there for each character. The only character’s storyline it hasn’t laid out yet is Haley’s and I know that has annoyed some, but hopefully that will be sorted out soon. The episode felt better put together than the ones at the end of last season and I suppose that’s because there wasn’t the mad rush to write and produce it, like there was back then after the strike. It’s one of my favourite episodes for a while and I hope the season continues to improve.

Whose post is this from?
First of all, I've said this before too, if we consider the fact that Mark or his associates visit forums, then it is clear that he is up to date with what people are saying. And the above line in the premiere was a very good example of Mark ruthlessly mocking "some people's" opinions. Frankly, this is the kind of thing I would have done, if I were writing LP. He cannot tell the people to think differently, but he can definitely tell them "yes, this is how it is, you don't like it, don't watch it."

Secondly, whoever thinks that LP are selfish and Brooke is selfless, well let me ask you something. If Brooke is so selfless, why doesn't she divide up her company and give some shares of it to poor people? Why doesn't she distribute her wealth among those people who need it more than her? Infact, why is she fighting tooth-and-nail to keep her Mom from benefitting from the company, why not become all-out "selfless" and let her Mom reap the benefits too?
The answer to this is, that not every action of a person can be labeled as either "selfish" or "selfless". Some actions are neither selfish nor selfless. They are either merely a necessity or just plain unavoidable. To keep the company from her Mom is a necessity for Brooke because she just does not like her mother. That's it. There can be no label of "selfishness" here.

The same is the case with LP. They are in love with each other. They want to be with each other. That's what happened and naturally they have every right to do so. By calling their love "selfish", does it mean that they should be sharing that love with other people? Or are people intending to say that when LP are in love they forget everyone else? Let's be reasonable here. They have been apart a long time, servicing the interest of others and the moment they come back together, it is being labeled "selfish" That is a very narrow-minded point-of view. This is just another of those things where "selfish" is not the appropriate label.
What Lucas actually meant was that it had been a long time since he had done anything for Peyton alone. It had been a long time since they had taken time out for themselves. It had been a long time since Peyton had been truly happy. And all he wanted to do in that moment was to ensure her happiness. To make sure that the future is not similar to the past. And if that meant sacrificing a little time from servicing others, then so be it. That's all Lucas meant. Which wasn't a selfish thought at all.

I love coming in here and reading the great posts. I've learned to ignore the haters. It's just nice to have somewhere to come that doesn't have all the Peyton bashing.
