On Friday night, we postponed the airing of our episode of #fridaynightinwiththemorgans on @amc_tv .
As we said in our announcements, our show was created to be a distraction from the new cycle of the pandemic. But as supporters of the #blacklivesmatter movement, we don’t want anyone to be distracted from what’s going on right now. We want folks to pay attention. And be engaged.
Each week on our show, we profile a member of our local community. And as an avid book lover, I was excited last week to have our friend @jeandmichel on to promote his comic book shop @megabraincomics . @jeffreydeanmorgan and I met Jean back when I was pregnant with George. We quickly fell in love with his little shop and really valued that space in our community.
Three weeks before quarantine, Jean open up a new, larger location - complete with a full, oldschool arcade - right across from our candy store @samuelssweetshop . Gus and I popped in to pick up @amahnke ‘s latest #wellington . It was awesome. Little kids were roaming around in awe. Teenagers were excited to have a place to hang out without their parents. And old people like me loved it cause we felt young again.
It was the last local shop we were physically in.
I’d asked Jean to come on at the beginning of May, and was excited to promote the business he has built. During the lockdown, he worked his ass off to completely pivot his business and create the shop’s website, which includes curated collections for whatever your tastes may be. We pretaped our episode with our friends @bigbaldhead @dianekruger And @elisabethmossofficial And we had a fun discussion. That episode will air at some point.
But in the meantime, if we want to support and uplift a #blackownedbusinesses that just so happens to be #negan ‘s personal comic book store? Check out Jean’s site, give them a follow, and call the shop if you need personal recommendations. They can make Birthday packages for that hard to shop for person in your life!
