PS: Thanks Nic for being the best beta ever. Night hangs quiet from a moonless heaven as dark as dark can be. The sidewalks are nearly as vacant as the sky, except for the little pools of tangerine adrift on the cold cement. Street lamps are not stars, but for now, it's the only light that will shine for the sleepless souls alone. Two of them stand in unison together, torn asunder by one past built from the fabric of belief. But their love is an unyielding stitch in time that mends, never breaks. Lucas finally ceases the silence and exhales a question to Peyton, "It's always going to be there, isn't it?" Peyton raises her head to nod with a reassuring smile and in a shortened breath replies, "You and me." Suddenly their years apart dwindle down to mere seconds and it's as if they had never left one another's side. Without hesitation Lucas links his gaze with Peyton's and creates a bridge. Nothing no longer stands in the wake of their undeniable spark. He cups her face with his hands as tears delicately stream off both their cheeks. Leaning his head towards hers, they refuse to break their stare. With their eyes they uncage a lifetime worth of love in one moment. A defining moment stacked above all others, both good and bad. Through the wooden double doors and onto the lifeless avenue, Lucas and Peyton step their way towards morning. The ethereal breeze lingers with a scent of rain which has yet to fall. Peyton rests her head onto Lucas' shoulder as he glares down at her and grins. Her eyes are closed, but she isn't afraid to let him lead her home. Their fingers are entwined together like a knot tightly tied. "Looks like rain," he whispers for only her to hear. "Mhmm," barely escapes her lips as they continue to walk. Soon enough the minutes turned into miles and the dark turned into dust. The little pools of tangerine slowly faded into an oceans tide floating high above. Lucas' and Peyton's maybe tomorrow was here today. Against the sun-drenched walls of a motel room for one sit two. Their hands still entwined together like a knot tightly tied. Peyton unintentionally surrendered to sleep about an hour ago. Lucas is still too enthralled by his wife and vowed to never lose sight of her again, so doesn't. With his left hand he brushes her blonde locks away from her pale skin. His platinum wedding band catches the light reflecting off the adjacent dresser mirror. Into Peyton's eyes the sun sinks its sharp rays that sting. "Good morning, Mrs. Scott," Lucas breathes with a sigh of relief. With a caress of his cheek with her right hand, Peyton responds with a similar breath, "Good morning, Mr. Sawyer." Suddenly all is lost in between the incessant smiles and glimpses. Lucas digs into his front jeans pocket and pulls out his cell phone. He spends a few seconds selecting a song, then with him lifts Peyton off the floor. Again they stand in unison together, but no longer alone. Easily the silence succumbs to the song Lucas chose. Without words they fall into one another and begin to slow dance. "That's me inside your head," Lucas proclaims without hesitation. Peyton closes her eyes and exhales with a laugh, overwhelmed by the clarity of her dream come true. Lucas again goes to speak, "Peyton..." "Peyton! Are you there? Did you hear me?" Lucas sits in the airport holding his cell phone. Peyton sits on the other end stunned by his question. "I said, I've got two tickets to Las Vegas. Do you wanna get married tonight?" __________________ if I could have some say | |||

Thanks for writing it... seriously Now I know I'll be disappointed by the premiere after reading this  I hope Mark steals this... if you don't mind And thanks for the new thread dude  ETA: From the previous thread - Nic, I really do want to make the DJo/LP vid... I'm just waiting to see if a certain LP scene that I want to happen and use in the vid will actually happen To hell with any flames!__________________ And if they're lucky, they'll get to see. | Lexi, I have no words just wet eyes and emotions ... great emotions. I love your one-shot and I'm not saying it because YOU wrote it. I really mean it. I love your writing style and how you tell the story. It's a beautiful story and I could totally picture it, "feel" Lucas and Peyton and "hear the music" as I was reading it. You know it captured me from the first paragraph and I liked the ending. It was unexpected but I really liked it. Made me want to read more. If it were a book I would say that it truely is a page turner. Thanks for writing it and for sharing it!   Thanks for the new thread, as well. | Thanks for the new thread. Lexi, that story was beautifully written I loved the slow dancing and the silent moments. Of course, I also loved "That's me inside you head"  That will never get old.
