I remember the spoiler thread was filled with pages and pages of the animation when the promo came out.

I just watched 501, first time since I watched it when it aired originally. And I love how Lucas was the one to read his book aloud and record it on tape. That he didn't just write, he spoke it, reinforcing the meaning and truth behind his words. I'll admit it was kindof creepy that Peyton would listen to the tape of him reading the book, but then if I'm honest I don't think there's anyone who could really say that they wouldn't do the same thing in that situation. His words gave her strength. If we had someone saying those encouraging words about us, and we were in a really difficult time, we probably would listen to it too.

Oh I just remembered how Schwahn flew out from L.A. to specifically direct the L/P 501 rivercourt scene. Damn that guy loved his LP.

Its creepier that she had so many copies of his book.

its the same book, honey. the ending doesn't change from one book to the next!

Don't most authors record their own audio books though? I mean all the ones I've listened to. Was sad the first time seeing her hurt that much, then seeing Lindsey ughh (Why can't we call her MF

this was one of the few BL scenes that I really LOVED ,the other ones were: season 3 finale when they were fighting after she realized he kissed Peyton again,their conversation was so meaningful (Lucas: I love you,I dont know how else to say it, Brooke : how about to show it? why didnt you call when you were away,why didnt you tell me about the kiss?! I need you to need me back! why dont you ever let me all the way in?! ,also loved Sophia's acting in this scene),and the other ones : 4.08 ,again their conversation was so meaninful,them talking about how their (so called) love wasnt true love and strong enough.and the last,in 6.10 when he asked her about Julian and Peyton and she told him he doesnt allowed to be mad after all the scwered up things he did with Lindsay.

he seriously did that? I didnt know it! he truly loved LP as much as we do,and thank god for that! and I should admit,that scene was so touching,I could actually feel how hurt they both were.

a few other things:
that promo is so HOT

and I agree Grace the scene of him at the bar, drinking, was so hot too(Im being shallow here too,lol) .a while ago I watched an AU LP vidoe that Peyton died giving birth and Luke was so broken,sad and angry and it included this scene,it was so sad

though the video was beautifully done but it was really heatbreaking

thank god it didnt end like that in the show.
I dont think Peyton listening to tape of him reading the book was creepy at all, though I should admit, her buying the same book over and over was a little bit creepy,but then again I probably would have done the same if I were in her place,so

Jerome though Peyton said it first,we cant call her that,but if you hate her name that much you can always call her bamboo lady,

I think I'd probably do the same thing if someone wrote a novel professing their undying love for me and saying numerous flattering things about me in it.

I think Peyton carried around Lucas with her beyond the purpose of her love for him. She was so lost in life, her career, love, loneliness that she was trying to find that point in her life where it all started to change, and Lucas always had a limitless belief in her. Just listen to what she's listening to out of Lucas' book and her words to Brooke:

Lucas: "Chapter Three, Peyton Sawyer is destined for greatness. Actually she's already great, because Peyton Sawyer has a thing called integrity and nothing or no one is ever going to change that. I remember the first time I met her..."

Peyton: "What happened to us, you know? I don't know who I am anymore, or how I got here. I miss who I used to be. I want to have a home again you know? Real Friends, you know the kind of friendships we used to believe in, and I miss you. I guess I just miss all of it."

I know people don't like to give S5 and S6 credit for having any sort of design to it, but I think the post high school arch was at least planned out for the beginning and end. Lines and words used corresponded with each other in their meaning and direction. Peyton was going back to a time in her life when she was fearless, her dreams were in her hands. It was a journey for all the characters failing in their endeavor into adulthood, and getting back up and finding those dreams (I think the only one they sort of left out was Haley.).

Brooke: "Ok, then let me ask you something. What is going to make you happy Peyton? Is it how you look, or the car you drive, or the people you know? Is it money, or celebrity, or power, or accomplishments? Because I have all those things, and I don't think its enough."

And I agree with Jerome, I always felt like S5 had a set design and meaning. That's what got me so attached to it in the first place - cause it was a REAL story; not just some random crap.

And IMO, it continued being amazing with a set plan, until it started changing from being written for LP to being written to keep a certain actress around.

some people thought season 2 was beautiful and turns out Mark had one scene in mind and worked his way backwards.

I wouldn't be surprised if season five was the same thing.

I could see him having the 601 airport scene in mind and working backwards from that, but I can't see him having that 518 office scene in mind...too anticlimactic compared to his usual methods.

the office scene wasn't the climatic scene the phone call was, or did you forget that part?

It's possible, but in many ways it felt like Season 5 started off too strong to be the case. I think that's why so many of us find issue with it, next to S1 I think S5 had the most potential to be really great, but the second half just truly ruins it. Maybe he had one of those things in mind to begin with, but it doesn't feel like he built up from that. Season 2 it was just so brutally obvious, especially now if you rewatch it.
