I disagree. No one else has ever represented purity of soul to Lucas like Peyton has. And he's always found it hard to survive without Peyton, when his heart has very much been with Peyton. S5, anyone? "I've her name in mine, and it's calling all the time for my sweet Lavinia." Um, I'm sorry, but who else would Lucas' heart being calling for if not Peyton?

I mean the song's title is "Lavinia," not Lucia. So obviously she means more to the singer than the latter I would think.

Cheena actually posted a really good post about how Peyton = Lavinia a long time ago during early S4 or something. I wish I could find it.

Grace I think we all agree with these parts

and as for the song,in the short version Peyton definitely represent Lavinia

but I dont know about the long version

For me, Lucia represents a lost love that he longs for and though he does love Lavinia he ultimately decides to let her go because he knows he will never love her the way he loves Lucia.

In the song I think Lucia is dead and him being with her means offing himself -- which is what he decides. I could be wrong, it's just my personal interpretation.

It was definitely an interesting choice for that particular coda, though and it should have tipped people off right there as to who Lucas's heart was actually with.

damn,the long version of that song is confusing and screwed up

anyway,I dont care about who that man's true love is,Lucia,Lavina or even another person

the only thing I care about is who Lucas' true love is and I can surely say its Peyton

and just one question : was the long version playing during coda or short version?does anyone know?

How are we so sure that he loves Lucia in a way that Lavinia can't compare? "if it weren't for my heart, I've her name in mine and it's calling all the time, for my sweet Lavinia." To me that shows a greater love than his for Lucia which is simply saying she's dead, she doesn't come anymore. That doesn't show longing to me as much as the Lavinia lyrics.

But for all we know Lucia and Lavinia could in fact be the same person. The bit about Lucia in darkness could just be him saying she's very depressed.

I agree with Emma.. it really just depends on how you interpret the song.

I do think it's kinda cool how there are two versions of the song. And they are kinda different, I think. It's almost like the second one was written to convey a deeper meaning? On the surface you'd think it's about Lavina, but Lucia is the one who tries to hide how deep the love he has for her is effecting him? IDK lol.

All I know is that in most interpretations of the song they describe Lucia as a girl he can't let go of, and him and Lavina end up falling out because of that. If that basic interpretation is true then I think that's a HUGE foreshadowing to the S3 finale/4.01.

And with Lavina, I kinda got the vibe that he WANTED to love her like he should, but he COULDN'T. And I always thought that was a big factor in the BLP love triangle. Like he wanted to Brooke like he should... but he couldn't. Because Peyton would always be numero uno. Plus Peyton was always a lot more cynical and jaded than Brooke lol and even then he still loved Peyton most with her flaws and all.

These are not the song writer's interpretations. It's just common people posting interpretations on a website. Just because more people happen to have that one opinion does not mean it has a higher likelihood of being true. I.E. many people watch American Idol, doesn't mean it's anything other than a sht reality show.

Um, how exactly? If he had meant Lucia was the one he couldn't survive without, he wouldn't have said, "and I find it so hard to survive, without when within you," during the Lavinia stanzas.

I think when it says "she", that is Lucia. Lucia is the change that is calling. Those lyrics don't seem to be exactly right.

I always felt in the lyrics below he was telling her (Lavinia) that he does love her, and that he would have left to be with Lucia a long time ago if he didn't. But now he feels her with him all the time and it's overwhelming him.

I dunno. I think I associate Peyton with Lucia because when the song plays in the coda, the last part of the song where he's singing Lucia's name over and over is the LP beach scene. Which probably doesn't mean anything at all
