I thought they showed Nathan in a pretty bad light at first but eventually with having Haley kiss Chris twice, it definitely made the audience more sympathetic to Nathan.

I don't really think they made Haley look sympathetic in season 2 and that's even before the kiss.

I think it came out of nowhere because it was one of the those storylines that they came up with at the last minute to add drama to LP that season and to also 'even' up the situation between both characters in terms of the dating history.

Yeah, her saying she was in love with him was a bit much imo. Especially after how s5 was written. I think it's more of how they presented Julian as this lost love that bothered most fans. There was just no indication in s5 that she had had such an important relationship.

I still didn't really buy she was actually in love with him though, since Brooke was 100% right when she pointed that both Luke and Peyton made out their feelings for Lindsay and Julian deeper than what they actually were to try and get over their pain of losing each other.

The good thing is that the story never really meant to portray it otherwise. But, if they really had to go there for the second time (given we've already seen it with Brooke and Jake), they could have executed the idea a lot better. I don't mind L/L but their temporary relationship could have been written much better. And I like P/J, so I wish we'd seen their relationship in (maybe the first part of) s5 instead of all the Peyton being sad about L/L scenes. It was so unbalanced and it annoyed me.

Tbh, I would have preferred no relationships or third parities in S5/6 and focused on drama entered around LP as characters.

he was incapable of just writing these easy simple relationships. He had to make them all like these "big" loves with big declarations and stuff. It was stupid.

Lindsey could have been a fun temporary fling.
