Considering they ended up making out, that definitely didn't stop them lol. Doing that storyline depends on whether I would kept that break up or not, but I would definitely have changed it to something else, so that reaction from Peyton wouldn't have worked as well.

There was a s5 AU fic I read where Lucas was raising Lily so he was distant when Peyton returned because he couldn't risk hurting Lily too. Something like that could've worked on the show if the writers wanted it to be Lucas who pulled back again.

It was a good fic even though that storyline would've needed work on the actual show. I would've liked it more than what we got though. Seeing Lucas repeat his relationship with Brooke with someone else just wasn't new or entertaining.

Just leave BL out the equation and they could've continued what was already building. Them becoming sort-of friends who building feelings for each other. They could've kept 1x08 the same and left out the BL stuff onward. I'm not sure what would've kept them apart for long though without the guilt aspect. Unless Lucas did end up leaving town at the end of s1 before Peyton could tell him how she felt. Or that could've been when his car accident happened and maybe in s2, he could've lost his memory or been temporarily blinded or something soapy like that.

Yeah, I'm not sure what I would have done haha. I probably would have just changed the triangle a bit so all of the characters wouldn't come off as badly as they did. Don't like the sound of Luke losing his memory lol

i was fine with the triangle in season 1 tbh. it was when they brought it back in season 3 that was too much.

in season 1 i wouldnt have had lP cheat, obviously. maybe just an almost kiss and then everything could have been almost the same. brooke could have overheard a conversation between them or something instead of seeing them kissing. then i would have liked to see them kinda/sorta dating while brooke was mad at peyton and then peyton could have broken it off to try to get her friendship back or something. similar to how it went down but slightly different.

but yeah, season 3 shouldn't have brought it back. or if BL did date and peyton did develop feelings, brooke should have dumped lucas for other reasons and then lP could have still built up in season 4 on their own without brooke involved or whatever.

The triangle was okay in S1, but after it was clearly just dragged out because of offscreen reasons imo. I definitely wouldn't have had LP cheat since Luke would have ended it with Brooke before it got to that stage, but besides that I don't think I wouldn't have changed that much. I probably wouldn't have Peyton reveal her feelings to Luke at the end of 1.09 either, since I didn't like that whole end scene lol. After season 1, I wouldn't have gone back there and I would have just rebuilt LP's friendship/relationship while Brooke got close to someone else (like Jake or something).
