That's pretty hard to pretend, you have a pass, no pass...no getting close. I'm usually press at these events because I do freelance work for a magazine here in town. The film festival is happening again...and, working press again. I don't know who I will see this time.

I would love to hear more about this movie. All I remember about the TIFF screening is that people either loved it or hated it and there was no middle ground.

Finally some news! Though not the best kind (the second one).

Any german posters around? Is it a good review? I see they gave the movie 4 stars.

A more surprising direction would Geoffrey Fletcher, the 2010 for his screenplay for "Precious" won the Oscar, take with his directorial debut "Violet & Daisy" can hardly. Its unique film - a highlight of the Fantasy Film Festival 2012 - is a highly imaginative action drama full of black humor, that has very little in common with the social drama "Precious" Fletcher breaks repeatedly with the expectations of the audience and shows with "Violet & Daisy. "not only once again his talent as a writer, but also proves to be more original director who submits the same with his first book a cinematic gem with cult potential.

Violet (Alexis Bledel) and Daisy (Saoirse Ronan) are not only best friends and big fans of the pop star Barbie Sunday, but assassins inside. Your next job take the young women, especially given to afford the new outfit from the collection of her idol can. But this time the situation gets out of control: Violet and Daisy meet with Michael (James Gandolfini) on a victim who does not show any resistance and the beautiful killer inside willingly receives in his home. The young women are highly irritated by this turn, finally, they have never met one of their victims personally. Meanwhile, moves to a troop of other assassins to execute the job ...

Right from the first moment it becomes clear that "Violet & Daisy" is anything but an ordinary first film: In nuns costumes shoot Alexis Bledel and Saoirse Ronan a horde of men overboard - an upbeat, full of violence, style and coolness Sun casual is. staged that you are in a film by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez, and not mentioned in the work of a debutant this "Violet & Daisy" never appears as a poor imitation or even plagiarism of famous role models, on the contrary. Geoffrey Fletcher uses by the Oscar winning newfound freedom cares, just do not care about conventions and chooses a narrative that gives an idea of the progress of events before.

In addition to the refreshingly unpredictable storyline and a host of absurd situations take particular the two leading ladies in the success of the film. The 18-year-old Saoirse Ronan ("Atonement"), which differ by their main role in the coming-of-age action thriller "Who is Hannah?" recommended for the role of Daisy's, and Alexis Bledel ("Gilmore Girls", "Sin City") are in their mixture of childishness, eroticism and coolness and occupied ideally complement each other. The stresses playing resigned James Gandolfini ("The Sopranos," "Welcome to the Rileys"), acting under its that even unusual screenplay twists seem credible. So then also unfolds the dramatic core of the film - Michael and Daisy are to substitute for each other father and daughter - in spite of the artificial surface and gets some action by the sympathetic character an emotional foundation.

Conclusion: With two gorgeous leading ladies, an unconventional narrative style and a lot of absurd situations is "Violet & Daisy" from the first to the last minute best entertainment

4/5 stars
