Rory in "Pulp Friction"
(Summary from Detroit Free Press)
Runaround Rory. Initially, Rory (Alexis Bledel) regrets her agreement with Yale boyfriend Logan (Matt Czuchry) that they can date other people. Especially after she sees him out with another girl. But it's Logan who winds up flying the flag of jealousy when Rory shows up with his friend Robert (Nick Holmes) at a "Pulp Fiction" costume party. Cheese Royale, my dear? Don't think anyone started this thread yet. So, what did you guys think of the episode? |

aww, good episode, although i was kinda disappointed in it being the last before the hiatus. nothing big really happened.
BUT i did love Rory being all mature and stuff about Logan. She made the choice to do no strings and even tho it bothered her to see Logan with someone else, she stuck to the deal. And im glad she didn't leave with him in the party even though i wanted her too. I LOVE how she has all the balls in her court now. She didnt mean to, but by sticking the the arrangement she's making Logan want her more, and want to stop their arrangement. I wish we could have seen their date after the party though. And yeah more interaction in the party would have been nice. I love how she is being open and chatty with Lorelai, but Lorelai is not sure how much she can say about Rory's life. I hope the boundaries dont come between them tho. |

Yeah, the whole balls in here court thing... lmao. I did want her to end up leaving with Logan though. Not right away when he came up to her, but just when they left at the end. By that time her "date" obligation would be over and she wold have been free to leave with whomever she wanted.
I think Lorelai will get beter with her. You could see how she was thinking about it when she was arguing with Emily at the end. O/T, but the "Shut Up!" was priceless! __________________

I'm actually kinda disappointed that Logan got jealous and he's slowly changing his ways. Anyway, back to Rory. She's getting more mature and I love how she left the money fo the Cocoa Puffs she took. But I don't get how she suddenly has all that money to go shopping when last episode she could barely afford to buy a small coffee.

Remember, Lorelai covered her books so she actually made money at her job. (I guess now we know why she's never worked at a bookstore before )
Also, remember, in show time it's been 6 months since rory and Logan met, so it's not like he's another guy who instantly fell for her like everyone is saying. It's taken half a year to get to where they are now. I think a lot of people don't realize that when they say he's just another guy who's falling for her. __________________

As far as her leaving the money. I actually didnt like that because I remembered exactly how much I got ripped off on dorm food. Wouldnt be shocked if i was somewhere around $10 she (well, the grandparents) pay each morning. Go loco and take the damn Cocoa Puffs. You more than paid for it. As far as her shopping spree. Well. Rory always has to dress like she came out of an A & F catalog. Maybe that's why she barely has any money. __________________

I know that was not in this episode - sorry. I am not disappointed that Logan got jealous ... I mean, he likes her really much and he had to realize it. And I think that Logan's mind works like that: (see's her with Robert) I am so jealous ... I think I like her. Whereas a normal mind would work like: I think I like her ... (see's her with Robert) I am so jealous. He has to get jealous before they can do strings - he's never had a relationship, so he has to figure out how it works to like a person (only one person) really really much ... And I would have hated to see that he really is in the casual thing, doesn't care if she's dating other people aso. ... it wouldn't have been the Logan I thought he was during the last few episodes (his feelings about Rory) ... Ok, he had a date himself ... but why did Rory agree to go there with Robert? She knew that Logan would be there and she knew that he'd probably be there with a date ... so she could go there, have fun, see Logan and maybe make him jealous ... and it worked ... and no one can tell me she didn't like jealous Logan ... |

I like him jealous, too, because you really have seen how much he loves her. It was the first time he acts like he want to have strings. Yeah, you already could noticed that when they talked about Logan and having a date with someone else, but he didn´t really show it. And I only can agree with Anne: He needs to be jealous before. |

I agree with Anne.
Given Logan's history of dating multiple girls, and never caring that much for any of them, none of the girls were ever that special to Logan. He had no reason to be jealous, because he simply did not care too much. Logan may not want to get jealous, but he does. Why? Because he knows she's different, she's special, she's girlfriend material and it just happens that he knows he's attracted to her. Part of her being who she is, I think it's only natural to rub off on Logan. Watching the episode again, Rory stood her ground. It seems like she's going to escape this unhurt. But in the scene when Rory and Logan go grab coffee, she definitely takes a long pause and hesitation, thinking of how far she's going to let herself do this and pretend to be cool with everything. Raja is right, having a guy be jealous and like you, versus staying committed, two completely different ballgames. Maybe just as Rory is "trying" to become DatingGirl, Logan will "try" to become loyal boyfriend. They could both be lying to each other and themselves. But the first step to becoming a real couple would at least involve Logan to realize he wants a strings-attached relationship. He's slowly starting to realize that. Plus, Rory knows how he is... it's going to be hard, but he might try. Logan knows Rory is special, so why the dates with Whitney? I think he's struggling with himself as well. They have known each other for 6 months, that is a very good observation to counter all the "everyone falls at her feet in no time" argument. __________________

I would explain my R/L feelings to everyone but I don't think anyone would understand.
BTW, anyone else notice the bored look Whitney had on her face during the party because Logan kept staring at Rory and Robert? __________________

I just wish he would realize how differently he looks at Rory compared to other girls. Then again, at lunch, he seemed quite cozy with Whitney. She didn't really seem to be talking though, it was all him. With Rory, they both talk, and Rory usually has something interesting to say to Logan. __________________

I also liked the fact that Rory didn't leave with him from the party, though I liked the fact that he wanted her to. I kinda liked the jealous Logan. It was fun to see. Also I loved the scene where they were coming from the theatre. They looked so comfortable with each other. And the ice-cream "stealing"...Cute! Loved how excited Rory got over the Coco Puffs. And loved also how impatient the "Come on Ace" sounded when Rory went back to leave money. And the 'so...' discussion. It was funny how wary (is that the right word?) Logan was. Kinda expecting Rory to be mad at him. And maybe being a little disappointed when she wasn't? Quote:
