Rory in 7.21 "Unto the Breach"

7.21 Unto the Breach

Richard and Emily throw a party for Rory on the night before graduation, and they perform a song for her. At the party, Lorelai reunites with Christopher for the first time since their breakup; and Logan surprises Rory with a big question that she waits until graduation day to answer. Also, Luke is hurt by something he overhears Lorelai saying regarding him.

from TV Guide

Can you believe this is the second to last episode?

I hope these last two eps fulfill all our expectations ...

Lorelai singing to Luke was really touching. And I was really surprised by Logan asking Lorelai for permission. And it seemed like she was too!

Can't wait to see what her next reaction will be.

I've been spoiled about this for weeks, but it was still so hard to watch. I feel so bad for Rory and Logan. A lot of people in other threads are hating Rory and blaming it all on her but I feel like things could have been handled differently on both sides. I just wish, like Rory did, that her graduation could have been a happy occasion and not a sad day she will look back on and think about the end of her three-year, serious relationship. I felt sick right along with her when she was packing up her stuff and feeling sad about Logan.

this was the worst episode i have ever seen. i really can't believe that she said no and for what, possibilities??? what possibilities is she talking about, the fact that she didn't accept one job, did not get an internship, and seems like she hass no other offers on the table. Logan told her about the possibilities she could have with him and i think she's really going to regret this for the rest of her life. i feel like the writer's really screwed this one up and by doing so, they made Rory look like she still can't make her own decisions and is completely dependant upon her mother and when Lorelai couldn't or wouldn't tell her what to do she did nothing. she lost one of the greatest guys out there who she was supposedly so in love with, the guy who was "the one" so she could do what exactly, sit in Stars Hollow for the rest of her life??? the writers really blew it!!! this is not the way you end a series with most of the fans being mad and feeling disappointing in one of the main characters of the show. but i guess they figure it doesn't matter now since it's ending anyways.

I liked the ep, I'll give you that

For the break up, I understood both sides, so I think it's unfair to blame Rory solely on this

Sorry you didn't like the ep Sky. But I'm gonna have to agree with Karen on this one.

On the other hand I thought it was a really sweet gesture, and I know it (of course!) was meant that way. But I was still cringing when I knew what he was about to do. I would be horrified to be in a situation like that! But I guess he thought Rory would absolutely say yes…

And obviously Rory felt bad about it. I felt bad for her.

I don’t see that Rory’s decision showed that she was still dependent on her mother. I mean, of course, she asked for her advice, when she was confused. But ultimately she made her own decision, that she felt was right.

I’m kinda sad it had to be “all or nothing” though.

I would’ve liked that they had dealt with Rory’s future plans more in this ep. But I'm glad she seemed to be comfortable with the idea of everything being wide open. That's a new side to Rory.

Otherwise, it was a good ep. Rory taking pics of Paris and Doyle was cute. And so was Richard and Emily singing for Rory!

I really liked that moment between the four girls, celebrating their graduation. And that moment between Paris and Rory was really sweet too.

I'm sorry if most people seem to be mad and disappointed with this episode. I'm happy with it, but I'll wait and see the series finale, until I have my final say about the series ending.

Rory was always about planning, so it is definitely a new side for her..
She became a bit more free spirited.. I like to think that's because of Logan

So your saying that because Rory didn't get the jobs she wanted and her future is undecided that she should just accept Logan's proposal??

She's 22.. that's really young to be getting married, no matter who the guy is.

I was never a big Rogan fan, Lit all the way for me. But recently I've been watching S5 and they began to grow on me. I am a little sad that Rory said no, but I do think it's right for her. And I'm not jut saying it because it's Logan, if it were Jess asking her I'd think they were too young also.. (although Jess would never ask her now.. he would be happy to just be with Rory till they were both ready.)

Also, the only reason Logan asked her is because of his job. He is basing his decision on his life at the moment and so is Rory. They're both just at 2 different stages.

I can't believe that Luke heard Lor say that it meant nothing... Grrrrr.... I hate it when they do that!!!! The wait for the next episode is going to kill me!!!!!

Oh and I cried watching Lor watch Rory accept her degree. So beautiful and sad.

IA

You can take consolation in knowing that they still loved each other. It wasn't because of not loving each other, just a matter of one being ready and the other not ready.

It was really touching. But I find Rory's graduation speech at Chilton and Lorelai's reaction to it more touching still.

Shanti Well said.

Harm, that Rory onto the end of the series is left without a boyfriend.
