Testimonials Thread - Come on in, tell us why you can't log off

Thought that I would start a thread where we could throw in some thoughts on the forum and why we come here as often as we do even when we have so many things to do Maybe it'll give a small push to you lurkers who have not yet joined

It's not quite the place for suggestions for improving the site, we've got a thread here for that

The Suggestion Box

I first joined years ago as a place where I could meet some new people. And that is exactly what I did I met a lot of wonderful people from everywhere in the world. But then I went on haitus for 4 years while I was in college because life was so busy. But after graduating, I have been a bit in limbo with my life and had some free time so I decided to return to FF! Forgot my password so back with a a better username. It seems like I have never logged off since Helps me procrastinate in studying for the GRE's

I like that the forum is so organized. It is easy to navigate and to post my ideas. Everyone here is so fun and welcoming and I feel as comfortable as if I were hanging with the buds I've grown up with away from FF. So I just wanted to say thanks to Goldenboy and the others who created this home inside my home where I can share my thoughts, experiences and ideas. I've met some wonderful people and learned some amazing things. I am proud to be a member here

I fell in love with the moment I laid my eyes on it! I've haven't been away from it since. I've been here four years and a couple of months. I am still going strong today!

This website is so full of countless boards and exiciting activities. The posters (friends) make it worthwhile to be here. You just can't help but fall in love!

Thanks for creating our second home, Goldenboy!

Aww ... what a sweet thread Jessie.

I lurked around for about 3 months before joining. Once I joined, it was a bit odd because I felt I already knew people because I had read their posts for so long, but of course I was a newbie to them. Before I knew it though, I had friends here and was hooked.

Oh, and nothing like to make time zones seem real.

I love because there are so many awesome boards with so many great posters on it, I've become friends with some of them and it's so good to talk about things I love with people from all around the world

That is SO true. I live in France, and when I wake up and I post on some boards, I think like 'I'm posting on FF when *insert poster* is sleeping. That's so weird.'

When I joined I posted on the Buffy/Spike spoiler thread and annoyed people to death with positing (over the top) multiple smilies in all of my posts, but then I left for a few months, came back and started posting on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer board and I haven't been away since.

has helped me get through some hard times with the love and support from my friends here. Sometimes I feel closer to people here than people in real life and now I don't know what I'd do without it.

The main thing I liked originally was that I could not only talk constantly about my obsession with Buffy, but there were also people like me who would reply to my thoughts and discussions.

also helped me to decide to be a designer. Before I joined I had never used photoshop, but I saw other people's wallpapers and designs and decided to give it a try myself. I quickly became addicted to making things to post here and when looking through degree courses, decided to try a course that would allow me to continue what I love doing.

I agree. I love my friends to death but sometimes its nice to come to a place where people don't know every detail of your life. Its a great place to chat and relax and connect with people on a different level of understanding

to all FFers present and future!

Wow, I haven't been here before, this is a great thread!

I basically came here because I was looking for Bones stuff (at school ) one day, and I thought it was pretty cool so I joined, and now I'm addicted! And it's also a great place to meet people from all around the world, too.

I've been a member of for 5 years now and it really is my home on the internet. The atmosphere here is so welcoming and everyone is so incredibly nice, I've made tons of friends here over the years, some of which I really see as some of my best friends now.

I love that you can come on here to talk about practically anything, and it's easy to find like minded people who are just as in love with certain shows/celebrities as you are, so people here will never judge anyone for being 'too obsessed' with something

I love so much, and here's to my next 5 years! or 10, or 15... I can already see myself still posting here when I'm old and grey

Great thread
Ive only been on fanforum for a week or so, and i love it, ive already met so many lovely people, it gives you a chance to just say your opinion on things- you can go to parts that meet your interests, and talk to people who dont know everything about you, plus its fun, and often a good laugh

What a great thread idea!

I'll pass my 7 year FF anniversary this April (which makes me feel very old!) so I'm definitely a fan of the place. I've got to know a lot of wonderful people here and I'm very thankful for that. I found this site during my Roswell obsessing days and I remember being so excited to discover other people fangirling like I was, because none of my real-life friends seemed to watch the same shows as me and get as caught up in them as I did.

I love how you get to talk to people all over the world, discover new fandoms and discuss things that are important to you. On a more superficial note I also love the look of FF - especially with the customised boards, no banners in sigs (yay) and little things like the way we have new threads after 300 posts rather than them just going on forever

FF seems a lot friendlier than other messageboards I've posted at and has a real sense of community.
