Hey, can I post this here, if not you may delete.
I'm currently looking for a laptop as a early present for me for my brithday. I have been looking at laptop and then I seen the new notebooks. Small, which i need. Which would be better for just internet browsering, Photoshoping, msn, word and play counterstrike/half life 2. Laptop or Notebook? And can you get Photoshop on Linux?

The biggest problems with netbooks are the small screen making photoshop a pain to use. price wise there may not be a huge difference between a netbook with 10 inch screen and a laptop with 15 inch screen. it comes do to how much screen space you need more than the other specs of the computer.

Not sure if you can get Photoshop on Linux.

i'd look at the hard drive, cpu and ram. those will pretty much tell you what you can do. in linux there's a few alternative image editors such as http://www.fanforum.com/f20/fan-foru...9/index18.html you might check out. really if you find a notebook that has a decent cpu and ram, it'll do the same thing as a laptop. it may possibly be a tad more expensive because it's smushed smaller though.

That's what I was saying the price difference between similar spec netbooks and laptops is not much, apart from the HDD, RAM and such the size of the screen is a big factor when doing graphics. The netbooks are compact is their only real advantage, they are designed for light Internet work, email and word processing work, not very good for Photoshop, but great for traveling. The really cheap netbooks may also lack the speed needed for graphics work.

Current Laptops can replace a desktop for many people but I love my new 22 inch LCD on my desktop G5 Mac

So 15 inch would be perfet for using photoshop. Thank you.

ETA: Im currently loving the samsung nc10 netbook. But I know no one who had a samsung, only had printers with them and there are not the best. Are Samsung netbooks good?

karentheidiot - amazon.com shows 120+ reviews w/ an average of 4.5 stars. sounds good to me.

othrocks - is it just the first image in the gif or no image at all for the animated ones?

Just to make sure, is this your player?

I checked that model out, and it says you can view still pictures. There's no mention of being able to play animated gif on it, just standard jpeg pictures.

I have and Ipod Touch and I just recently reformatted my computer and reinstalled itunes. What is the best way of going about transferring my stuff? I have my music and pictures saved elsewhere, but it is my applications that I am worried about losing the most. Any direction would be much appreciated.

If I want to burn songs from iTunes (that would mean they're m4p's) onto a CD, can I use Nero?

Why wouldn't you use the CD burning with-in iTunes?

You can make proper CDs or MP3 CDs if you like.

How does that work? I don't actually use iTunes, I know nothing about it. The songs are just from there.

ETA: Nevermind, figured it out.

Are the songs protected?

So did you DL a copy of iTunes?

And how did you get the songs without having iTunes or an account
