How do I install a font?
Go to the Windows Fonts folder. Start >> Settings >> control panel >> fonts
File >> Install new font
Browse for the font you want to install, click ok. If you need more help, check the Font Find thread

The font in my Internet Explorer is too big/small! How do I change it?
Go to View --> Text size --> and select a size (medium is recommended).

It won't save as a .gif/.jpg./other How do I fix it?
First off if you're using AOL trying closing that down and try to use Internet Explorer and save the picture. If you were already using Internet Explorer or if it didn't work try going up to Tools on the toolbar >> Internet Options and then try to delete your temporary internet files. It should then be able to save it as the desired file type. You can also try having someone e-mail the picture file to you. You can also try this but be aware it doesn't always work on all computers. Try right clicking on the picture you want to save and then select "E-mail picture as...". Then a little screen will pop up titled "Sending Pictures Via E-mail" and it'll ask you if you want to make the picture smaller or keep the original size. Select the one to keep the original size and then click ok. Then another screen will pop up asking you to select a profile. Just select Outlook even if you don't use Outlook regularly. Then an outlook window for an e-mail will pop up with the whole "To..., From..., Cc..." and all that good stuff. Hopefully you'll see that under the Attachment section there's a tile of the picture file you want to save. You should be able to right click the picture tile and save it as the desired file type. Beware though that it doesn't work on all computers.

How to run Windows in safe mode
Restart you computer. As the computer restarts, press the key F8. A menu appears, use the arrow keys to select the option Safe Mode.
To return to the normal mode, restart the computer.

Many ISPs offer free anti-virus/spyware programs also. Earthlink and Road Runner do, if in doubt call yours.

When I go to make a screencap all it gives me is a black image. What do I do?
Turn your video hardware accleration to full. Right click on desktop, go to Properties in grey menu. Go to the Settings tab. Click on Advanced button. Click on the Troubleshoot tab. Slide the bar all the way to the right and hit OK.

How do I change the spacing between lines when typing in Word?
All you have to do when you have a paragraph that is spaced is highlight the whole paragraph and go to format >> paragraph and then where it says "line spacing" change it to single (or which ever spacing you like)

I'm using Paint, how do I resize the image to make wallpapers or larger images?
Take the bottom right sizing handle (the little black box) and drag it to the size you want. You can see the dimensions in the bottom right corner of the Paint screen.

BTW - I'm having trouble de-fragging a HDD, it's 80% full SATA drive NTFC format and just a sea of red and white but keep saying some files can't be de-fragged.

If they are in iTunes then it can make Music or MP3 CDs, it's your choice.

It's showing up just like a regular Windows Security Alert with the red balloon warning on my toolbar. Actually it's the very first thing that loads on my computer when it's turned on. I looked around online and saw that there is a virus (Vundo Virus) that places a fake Window Security Alert but the virus tries to sell a fake anti-virus program, causes pop ups and slows the computer... I have none of that. It actually just goes to my Window Security Alert section and tells me to turn it on, but it already is on. This is what's causing me concern.

I've tried (in order) and in safe-mode:

Mcafee Anti-virus
Avira Anti-virus
Ad Aware
SpyBot
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware & SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition (which actually made it go away for 2 hours)
CCleaner (again it made it go away for 1 hour)
VundoFix

I've also loaded Hijack This but don't know how to use it...

And after all that the alert is still there.

Could be system files that can't be moved while Windows is loaded. I wouldn't worry much about those. You could try defraging in safe mode and see if you can make it pass 80%

I've tried different types of cds to burn...CD-R, CD-RW and spent like a hundred dollars on different brands of cds...s

I also took the time to talk to ppl at Best Buy on the phone and in person and the constant reaction was that I had to download a converter.

So I'll try that and hope that it works.

It's not the C drive so Windows shouldn't be an issue.

Are some of the music you are trying to burn from the iTunes store? If so the new computer may not have permission to do that.

Yep, The music I'm trying to burn was bought from the store, I'm seeing now that I can't even convert half of them to WMA, they seemed locked.

Does anyone know how to unlock them?

My computer is authorized.

As far as I know ACC files that ar locked can't be converted to WMA.

Hello guys!

I have a problem. I just installed the trial version of WinDVD 7 on my computer, which I had saved from when I originally downloaded the program. It runs out in 14 days. Thing is, I already purchased WinDVD7, but my activation code is old and InterVideo was bought by Corel and my old account information is not anywhere on their supposedly merged database. Without this info, I can't get the current activation key to re-activate the program.

I did buy WinDVD 9 a few months back, but it's not as good as WinDVD 7 and I refuse to spend more money on buying an old DVD7 version from Amazon or elsewhere when I have paid over $100 for both versions already.

If anyone can help, or knows of a way to re-activate my program, please, please PM me.

Talking to the company would be the smartest thing to do here. Since you paid for it, it would be dumb to try and use a fake serial key just to make it work.
