It was different for me when I joined many years ago. While there were less members and boards back then, I still felt intimidated and a thread like this would have helped. I remember I got told off for double posting. But everyone is generally nice and kind so I kept coming back.

I got told off for supposedly making a drug reference. The mod wasn't aware that some Canadians call a winter hat a toque, and thought we were referencing something else.

I also felt very welcomed at the boards I first visited! If I had felt somewhat lost, which I can totally image with so many boards and so many members/moderators etc, and if I wouldn't have been this familiar with forums already, I would definitely have visited this thread and a first friend (FFFF )
