Leanne  Think going to be alright - asked a friend that's gonna look into what he and a mutual friend has. Plus just had a look at "food banks" and there's a church that does "food pantry" near enough to me that I may go check it out tomorrow

Also  I had the exact same problem related to no working stove for almost a month  that plus bad money decisions has me in this situation :look: but thankfully will be fine come December

 that's good to go check out the pantry!

Before I moved here, I used to have a toaster/convection oven for the countertop and I might have to look in the garage to see if I kept it... it's been 10 years since I've seen or used it? And I don't even know where I'd use it if I find it but at least it would allow small cooking or baking. I don't even have a toaster and I don't want to prep food in a room where the cat walks on the counter and the same room as his litter box so I'm picturing a lot of pre-packaged meals in my future.

I have a conventional oven and use it almost daily. I love the ease of it and things heat up pretty quick because it is small. :) Conventional oven, microwave, kettle, and toaster are the only things I use to 'cook' with. I like to keep it simple. :P

Yea have a crockpot but I hate it cause its small with no warm setting :wiggle: so probably in January along with GST|HST gonna buy a bigger with a warm setting

Cece, are your class fish still alive?? I always wonder about them! :P

I always wanted an instant pot pressure cooker but I really don't know where I'd put this stuff with a cat around everywhere. I don't want to overload the laundry room cause it already has a fridge, microwave, mini dishwasher and washer and dryer.

A toaster oven would be good but I want to see if I still have the portable convection oven around and if it still works. I had a small George Forman grill once.

I've been thinking of a kettle too, at the very least!

Kettle is a must have :lmao:

They are still alive, thanks for asking.

I'll get a crockpot when I decide to be more adventurous with my cooking. :lmao:

I love my instant pot so much!! I use it all the time. I highly recommend it. You can make stuff so fast! Like a pound of chicken cooks in 8 minutes. I used to use a crockpot quite a bit but after trying the instant pot I can never go back  My instant pot will also work like crock pot but I never use that setting because it takes forever compared to using the pressure cooker setting.

Sarah - some churches also will have meals that they prepare for people in the community. At least they do here. You may check around and see if there is a local church that provides fresh cooked meals a few times a month for the surrounding community. It doesn't matter if you attend the church or even believe in God. That might help in addition to the food bank. Hope things start getting easier for you soon!

Cece - I keep things pretty simple too when I am cooking. I have not tried to make anything too fancy. If we want fancy food we go out to eat

Hi Chris and Lizzy

I’m so tempted to get an instant pot, caus I keep thinking I can throw stuff in and make something real in quick time since I work. But the question of where to put it since I don’t have a kitchen. It would be weird to use it right in my living room, but it would be nice to cook real food in a short time frame.

Yay new thread! Thanks for starting, Cece!

I have heard amazing things about instant pot. i love my crockpot so can only imagine how much better an Instant Pot is!

crash landing 11-13-2017 04:52 AM

Never heard of Instant Pot? :lmao:

Chris 11-13-2017 06:19 AM

I've never heard of an instant pot either. I use my crock pot a fair bit.

That happens around here too, especially in bigger cities.

Good luck getting things sorted out Sarah.

Thanks for the new thread Cece.

I need a better crock pot

lizzybug57 11-13-2017 07:57 AM

Yes, I think churches across the board are really good about providing that for the community.

I hope things get easier for you as well, Sarah.
