I'm pretty sure I fall under the description of a workaholic. Thankfully graduate school hasn't started yet, but it will soon [August 28th], and by then I also will fall under the description of schoolaholic. I have accomplished a lot tonight though but just couldn't stop working. It's midnight now so better get some sleep to wake up in 6 hours. As they say, a teacher's job is never done [especially that of a Special Educator] so I need to keep my workaholic self in check once graduate school starts. Wise words from fellow educators to prevent burnout is to find a work/life balance because some work can wait until tomorrow. I shall keep repeating those words. I just really love what I do! And I sincerely love graduate school as well. I feel it's alright.

Audrey - most of that music doesn't hold much appeal for me. Sounds like you do have eclectic tastes Cece - you're definitely a workaholic. Rose, Dana, Sarah __________________

Chris, good job! Your dentist must be really happy.
Cece, being workaholic is fine but have time for yourself and unwind every now and then okay? __________________

I didn't leave the school building until 8:30. I would have been doing what I was doing there at home anyway. I am mostly prepared now. I just have to read over all the goals/objectives for each of my kiddos so when I meet with their classroom teachers, I can let them know the important points.

True Lizzy. It drove me crazy being too focused on work before to the point that my mom told me to go out and unwind every weekend because I deserve it. Which is true because I'll go crazy with stress if I don't unwind (and I have a VERY stressful job).
Cece, that's very late. Although I have left work at a much later time (11:30PM) to the point where I only sleep at home and don't do much else. I'm glad those days are gone now. __________________

Morning, Rose!
Lindsay, me too. I have trouble compartmentalizing how I feel at work vs. how I feel outside of work. Being happy at work is really important to me. __________________

Hello everybody
I currently don't work. I have only lived here nine months now, but I am still unable to work til paper work is in order. I loved my job back in Turkey but I think I'll struggle finding something similar __________________

best to follow the rules rather than risking your status. What type of work will you be looking for?
Mom got a notice in the mail today that her medical expenses on her last income tax return are being audited. Guess who gets to compile all the paper work to get that sorted out? *sigh* __________________

That sucks, Chris. Audits have to be soooo annoying! I am so not a workaholic. I enjoy my job while I'm there, but no desire to stay longer than my official hours. When I leave, I also leave work behind and focus on my winding down... which I need since simply being "on" working with others and such drains me by the end of the day. If I had the option to work just part time I would for my work-life balance. I've just been doing wound care, irritated skin care, scar treatment, researching shoes for walking in Europe and planning to go to the British food import grocery tomorrow! I'm sad I can't use my pool, I should have just got it next summer. I didn't anticipate my shoulder gland problem and future needed stitches would be happening. __________________

I have stayed out until past midnight closing at the movie theater. I would grab some food at 1 AM in the morning at Steak n' Shake, go home/take a nap and open for the movie theatre at an early hour. I worked there nearly a year. And honestly, even with those crazy hours, it was easier than working at the childcare over the summer. If you think teaching is easy, you really need to step into our shoes. I love my job during the school year though, wouldn't change it for the world!
