And now my bf and I still tag along when my parents are visiting Italy for a week or two in the winter (Christmas holidays). Also a beautiful time to visit Italy

Favorite city.. Mmm... usually when we go to Italy we don't really go for the big cities. More for nature (so diverse!) and smaller villages. I've visited Rome, Pisa, Milano, Mantova, Venica, Genoa, and more. But most of them only once. I think my favorite cities might be Matera and Bari in the south of Italy. Very warm atmospheres, where everyone comes out at night onto the streets. And beautifully old.

We visited Rome, Florence, and Venice. Florence was my least favorite (but I lovedlovedloved San Gimignamo and the vineyard in Tuscany!) and Venice was my favorite, hands down no argument or doubt about it. Rome was pretty cool in the historical aspect, but Venice was much more modern and funky-looking.

I would love to go back, but we pretty much spent what we had saved up since 2007 this past November on another trip to Europe!
Sounds like a great vacation!
I think of those three cities Florence might be my favorite I loved how there are alsmost no cars in the city center, and how all of the old aspects of the city are beautifully preserved. And how when you cross the river, you are in a green landscape of gardens and fields within minutes of walking. Ánd it's located in Tuscany San Gimignano is really beautiful as well, but it's só overcrowded with tourists, it isn't what it used to be.. Visited it twice. Once with my parents when I was a kid, and once two years ago when I visited Florence with my boyfriend and his parents and sister, and it has really changed, it's more 'polished' (and crowded) now.

Damn, long post

How are your weekends?

Happy Sunday, everyone!

I imagine most cities in Italy are beautifully preserved. I like how Italians are so passionate about their food. They put their love in the cooking.

Starfield_Scribe - I'm sorry your father never got to go. Then you should go for him Enjoy it. You'd love Italy! I want to go again. Haha, it is ok to forget once in a while, lol!

to you all!

Yeah, that's sort of the plan We got part of the ashes in this small second urn, and I want to take it with me when I go so I'm "bringing" him there finally. It's just complicated because you need paperwork to cross the border with it and all, like I'm not leaving him there, I'm bringing him back, but can't just hide it... (Sorry if this is a bit morbid )

Chris - Yup, name kind of sticks Can't quit the FF life, just pulls you back in But I'm glad it did!

It's nice that you're trying to honour your father's memory that way.

Any plans for today? It's cold and rainy here, so I'll be having a lazy day.

The big plan today is called "I need to catch up on Orphan Black, it's getting ridiculous, I can't even remember how many eps behind we are, I want to say five?"

Good morning!

Collins - Tuscany was like a whole other world!

Mascha - I didn't find San Gimignamo too polished or overcrowded, but I have only been there once and that was in 2007. I don't know what it used to be like when you were younger or what it is like now. It rained the day we were there though, so that sort of ruined it a bit.

Welcome back to , Moonie!

There are even bears and wolves in Italy, in the Abruzze mountains. Never seen them, but I've heard the wolves howl.
Amalfi coast is stunning. All the rich people go there

And we really should have that board

Last's nights and last week's episode are my favorite episodes of this season so far.

Good almost-evening!

Hi guys. How was your weekend?

I finally had the opportunity to go the beach. It was amazing.

I see some Orphan Black fans here.

Glad you enjoyed your time at the beach Oliva. It's turned cold here again, so the thought of going to the beach isn't very appealing at all.

Mascha - bears in Italy? Wow, I never would have expected that.

Orphan Black - Tatiana is such an incredible actress to make all of her characters completely separate and believable.
