Synopsis
How many of us out there are having sex with people we are ashamed to introduce to our friends? Carrie thinks Mr. Big is keeping her a secret, while Miranda discovers a secret about her new boyfriend. Samantha has never been discreet with anyone she's ever slept with, and Charlotte divulges her past love affair with one of God's chosen people

You know, I don't remember anything about the guy that Miranda dates in this episode.

All I remember is Carrie being so wigged out over Big taking her to the small little chinese restaurant and she ran into her friend, who was embarassed to introduce his girlfriend. This is also the episode where the girls go to see Carrie on the side of the bus, right?

I thought Charlotte's storyline was stupid.

awww! :clap: I love this episode. Well, only the Carrie/Big story. First date, first kiss, first... :D

I don't think it was a mistake. It means she was incredibly attracted to him.

I loved Miranda's storyline. :)

But maybe their relationship would've gone differently if she hadn't slept with him so soon. Just a thought ...

No, I don't think so. Their relationship would have been the same. They still would have broken up regardless if they had waited or not. He still would have had commitment issues...blah blah blah.

I personally thought this was a very romantic episode for Big and Carrie. They were still very much into each after they slept together. I remember her saying something like "I escaped sex on first date curse", when he called her the next day. And their walk in the street was sooooo cute (up until they ran into those people).

I remember how Carrie freaked out when Big didn't introduce her to the couple they ran into. She never even gave thought to the fact that maybe he didn't know their names. If only she had just asked him up front, she would've saved herself so much craziness.

What did you guys think of the dress that Carrie wore on their first date? I didn't care for it at all.

I wasn't personally a big fan of the dress, she looked good in it but i just wasn't in to it :)

I think that if it had been in a different color, it could've worked. It was too flesh tone.

Agreed, although I think that most of us don't think logically in situations like this. We start to obsess and become insecure - "why didn't he introduce me to his friends, is he ashamed of me?" or "I haven't heard from X since I slept with him on the first date, am I a one-date wonder?" and so forth. In one vein it's irrational thinking but I think it's absolutely understandable because we're human. It is true, however, that she should have confronted him about the issue from the get-go but once again, how many of us would've done that without fear of him thinking we were nit-picking or simply being contentious? Woo! This whole dating thing is hard work.

On the topic of the dress, I think that although it was incredibly sexy, I'm not sure I would have worn it. A little too naked for me, I'm afraid.

Miranda's storyline cracked me up. He had his little fetish it seemed, but when she confronted him with it and tried to play along he got ticked. :lol:

Yeah. Doesn't Miranda just have the worst luck with men and their strange fetishes? In a later season, I think it was with the guy who just wouldn't shut the hell up in bed, after much prompting to engage in vocal openness she tells him exactly where he likes to have a finger inserted and he trips big-time. Being so chatty was apparently not as sexy as he had initially thought - the big moron. Actually, come to think of it, she had some really horrible fetish encounters - Marathon Man with the behind licking thing (ick), Mr I-love-to-do-it-in-public-even-or-perhaps-more-so-in-front-of-my-elderly-parents (freak), the very un-hot dude who was way too willing to share his toilet experiences by keeping the bathroom door wide open (good grief, Lord forbid)...poor Miranda. Glad she ended up with Mr Brady, I really love them together.
