I finally saw the episode where Carrie cheats on Aidan w/Big and I love when she keeps having flashbacks and it's all blue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hot. Hot. Hot.

Would anyone other than Chris and SJP have you understanding why their characters would cheat on their spouses? They almost pushed Big and Carrie over the edge with the affair, but I *got* the reasons why they did it. I felt bad for Carrie, even though she was cheating on Aidan. I understood why Big would cheat on Natasha. It takes two great actors to make you forgive an affair.

I think Chris is amazing. One of my favorite scenes of Big's is in the last episode of season two when he calls Carrie after the lunch date disaster. He's talking on her machine, and he sounds so vulnerable and so upset over hurting Carrie. I agree with whoever said that Big always seems to get to that irredeemable point and then Chris pulls him back from the edge. I think Chris was really the only choice for Mr. Big. Who else could play Big as perfectly as Chris?

I "got it" too....but a lot of people never forgave Big (or Carrie) for that affair....they just saw him as a cad (poor Chris would have pissed off women yelling at him on the street)....when you look at what les up to the affair, you can see how conflicted Big was....he didn't enter into it lightly....he kept saying that he didn't know what he wanted. As for Carrie, she really tried to keep Big at arm's length (but let's face it, how much can a girl resist, lol)....his desire for her is just so powerful, and once she gives in, it's as if she's under a spell...the affair takes on a life of it's own for both of them....they can't see clearly, until the spell is broken....the writers took a big chance, but what an amazing opportunity for both actors. Poor Carrie was wracked with guilt for so long....I think that's why their relationship became "platonic" in season 4.

I LOVE the phone calls, especially that one! Again, at the end of season 3, we see a strong performance from Chris, with another phone call, displaying his vulnerability.....Big's trying to find just the right way to approach Carrie, because he's free, he needs to make amends for his behavior and because he needs to see Carrie....to have her back in his life.

Very distinguished and he reminds me of a Cary Grant or something, very charismatic. Dresses very nice of course <sigh>. But also just a regular guy!

Stacy - that would be interesting! I remember a few months back seeing chris on L&O (this was before I started watching Sex and the City) and I said "OH MY GOD..it's Big!!!" :lol

I have to admit I really didn't like the Carrie/Big affair in season 4. While I liked Aidan a lot I didn't want him with Carrie..didn't think they "fit"...and Big I knew wasn't a "fit for Natasha...I was sad that they both couldn't break it off with their significant others and be together.

CheerforAU - I completely agree. I think that Big while played by another actor wouldn't be redeemable in the "affair" piece. Following the affair, seeing those scenes with how vulnerable Big and like he said "I am so *****ed up"...so he just needed to figure out what he wanted.

I really liked how he would call her up to chat. I was glad that by season 4 they were better friends. It goes to show you that Carrie brought something to his life, something that he couldn't be away from too long.

I liked that scene on her 35th birthday when he had the limo outside with balloons and when he opened the windows and she peaked in he said "Happy Birthday baby" and they sat in the car and had one of their conversations :-) He just brightened her day.

I agree. That was such a sweet scene. When they first met, it was all sparks, but they needed more. Over the years, they really developed a great friendship, which grew to love, more so than lust. That can really only develop into a lasting love/relationship.
