 I think women steer clear of making any grand gesture first, I think its always left to the man, I don't think I'd ever send flowers or anything like that and if the woman was to declare her love first in some grand gesture and if it's too early then it's definitely considered desperate! __________________

Personally I think classic romance is definitely dead so when ever a man makes a romantic gesture make the most of it! __________________

Definitely true! Maybe thats why men don't pull off big gestures anymore they are afraid they'll been seen as desperate!

I personally wouldn't see it as desperate but I do know girls/woman who would be like, "I can do anything, he obviously loves me so much - I mean he wrote me song, blah, blah."

Man stumbles into Forum.
So I Googled Carrie's columns. ( for reasons completely unrelated to this post or frankly speaking, anything related to women in general) And stumbled onto this little gem of a post. Considering that I'm hung-over and desperately seeking a reason to avoid work, I registered and regurgitated a reply.
I don't agree with you : head shake: this ongoing debate about men being threatened by powerful women only exists among women. We don't talk about it, ever. Nor do we think about it, ever. This is because of one reason: It's not an issue. You women, as lovely as you are, are sometimes what seems by nature, perpetual fabricators of non-existing issues. I suppose if it is true, and we are threatened by powerful women it's probably because your self-fulfilling prophecy matured or as you mentioned, we were taught to believe as much, by our mothers.
