I am a HUGE Aidan fan aswell, but like you ...I always just accepted the Big and Carrie affair. It was just part of their story. They were never perfect or well thought out - they were just Carrie and Big. Their laughter is one of my favorite parts of their relationship. How they could just joke around, and be themselves. There are so many moments when they are just laughing.

ITA one of the best things about B/C is that beyond everything they were good friends that could ultimately rely on each other and were always there, any scene B/C joking and giggling around is awesome in my book, they have such great chemistry together.

exactly! never perfect, but accepting, well eventually... i think by season four they were really able to just accept the other's shortcomings and let go of all the angst because it was important they be in the other's life... he was always that one constant she needed and vice versa for him

Well I always think that one of the main reasons Big loved Carrie so much is that she never settles

Carrie was definitely the "Big" in her relationship with Aidan. I think she also compared every guy she dated to Big, and when you do that, the one you compare all others to is "the one"

It got me wonder, is it the "Big" in every relationship the winnner? Seriously being a winner in a fruitless relationship sucks sometimes

Agreed And when Aidan said something about not seeing Big, Carrie without a second's hesitation said she couldn't do that. Even if they weren't together romantically, she needed him in her life. And that is a soulmate, in my mind. Someone you just have this need to have in your life. This natural feeling towards them. That you two together are just right - whether it be in a friendship sense or relationship wise. It's just there.

I don't really know if there is a winner in a relationship. It is interesting to think about. Carrie should of wrote a column on it.

Yeah if Carrie had truly been in love with Aidan she would have agreed to end all contact with Big, but she just couldn't do that.

wow, calling carrie the big in her relationship with aiden is rather brutal... i don't think carrie ever had a commitment phobia like big, nor did she push aiden away to the extent big did with her... even while her guilt paralyzed her relationship with aiden from cheating with big, i don't think she never not wanted to be with aiden... and also just because she feared getting married to aiden, didn't mean she didn't love him or didn't want to be with him... i think every relationship takes a different path and for carrie, she just wasn't ready to take on the role of a wife... but in her heart she wanted to say yes... besides, i believe you can keep an ex in your life and be wholly committed to another person without fear of wondering what if... it takes so much trust and strength for that to occur though, which is where aiden and carrie's relationship failed... the love was there, but the trust was gone... and without trust, you're just doomed

but if you think about why carrie and big first ended, it's because she wanted him to tell her she was the one... i think carrie knew big was it for her all along, but he was too unattainable... she always liked the chase with big, which made the beginning of her and aiden so weird to her... it's like she needed the challenge of capturing big because she viewed love as a game... in her mind it could never be just as simple as to have it, but it was that simple with aiden... i definitely believe her inability to let go of big played a role in the demise of her and aiden, but there was love between them... it breaks my freakin heart when aiden tells carrie she's the one... something she waited years for big to say, but he never did... not until eons later of course... but for carrie, she had already given her heart to big... every man that came after him could never compare... it's like bc are two magnets that no one could ever break the pull of... only she could decide if big was in or out of her life, no one else... aiden accepted that because he loved carrie... and to me, that's love at it's finest

ps, like i said, i'm a huge aiden fan, but bc were always totally end game, obvs

Again I completely agree.

I wouldn't call Carrie in the Big of the CA relationship either because I just can't see that. Big always loved Carrie, but he just messed up for whatever reasons. He was scared. Carrie on the other hand concerning Aidan, truly wanted to be with Aidan. She was in love with him, imo. And she wanted to marry him, she wanted to be with him and she wasn't scared of having that with him - I just think personally she wasn't ready. And the timing was off and of course the trust issue. But I think there is a difference between Carrie and Big when it comes to being the "Big" of relationships.

I seriously completely agree with your above post, 100%

I think that Carrie loved Aidan but wasn't in love with him. She liked the idea of him and being with him, but it was never the head over heals feeling that she had with Big. My thinking that she was like the Big in that relationship was because in a way, she held all the cards, almost knowing that Aidan would do anything for her and always come back to her, even if she treated him bad, just as she always went back to Big after he treated her badly. All Aidan wanted was to know that he was "the one" in Carrie's eyes, but she couldn't give him that, just like all Carrie wanted from Big was to know that she was "the one" for him. At least she got that in the end, and I'm glad that things worked out well for Aidan too, they both found what they were looking for.

Oh, and I know it can be ok to have an ex in your life, but when that is the person you confide in and go to when you're having problems in your current relationship then that's dangerous ground imo.

I don't know I just always believed Carrie was in love with Aidan. It wasn't the same love that she had for Big, but she was in love with Aidan in my opinion.
