The sites that matter to people's faith are incredible to see. The energy. The passion. The belief. Seeing the most important sites for so many faiths in such a short period of time? Fascinating. And the take away for me is simple. The through line is simple. We all love. We all yearn. We all look to the sky, look to something greater than ourselves, and wish for peace. After standing on a rooftop where four cultures in Jerusalem literally meet, it was an honor to listen to Forsan Hussein speak about his work with the YMCA. He is a Palestinian Israeli (his term for his heritage), the son of a family deeply affected by war and conflict in this region. And a man who loves this country. His takeaway? Peace is the only way. And this is why he has been an activist since the age of 10 years old. He is the first Muslim CEO of the Israeli YMCA, where they run peace camps. Helping facilitate Jewish and Palestinian Israeli children studying, playing, and learning together, as friends. And this facilitates friendships between their parents. Make no mistake, I understand the depths of pain and suffering that exist around this conflict. It runs deep. It is vast. But I am deeply inspired by those who choose to meet that pain with love and push forward. It gives me hope for all sides. As Forsan said, "The perception of the other is so central to peacemaking. The conflict is composed of 100s of small stories that make it seem unsolvable. The only way to solve it is to reach out and meet, and talk." #love #inspired
