ARE YOU READY TO TURN YOUR RAGE INTO CHANGE?
Many of you have been waiting for me to share WHAT’S NEXT FOR US as women, as warriors, as citizens. You have no idea how seriously I take that trust and responsibility.
It’s not easy for me to ask anything of you. Your lives are hard and exhausting and filled to the brim already. My job, my mission for the past thirteen years has been to SERVE you.
In this moment in history, the purest way I can continue to serve you is to ask something of you. To invite you to rise up and unite your voices, bodies, power and say:
ENOUGH.
Enough systematic and celebrated racism.
Enough ignoring and laughing at survivors’ pain.
Enough terrified migrant children transported to middle of the desert, in the middle of the night.
Enough institutionally enforced wealth for the richest Americans while so many Americans toil in intergenerational poverty.
ENOUGH.
I believe that THIS, this is the moment in which we each make a decision:
We go either back to sleep or stay wide awake.
We either give up or give hell.
We either lay down and surrender or rise up and fight for each other.
We either turn our rage into change, or we let it eat us alive.
We’re going to turn our rage into change. For us, and for our children. For everyone’s children. So that one day, when my daughters and son ask how I reacted during these dangerous times, I’ll be able to say: Like this. I’ll be able to point to pictures and tell them stories about the power of sisterhood. I’ll be able to say: Right here, babies. This is how your mama showed up for you. And for her sisters. And for herself.
A group of fierce and brilliant women activists (led by women of color) and I have been plotting tirelessly all week. We have a plan.
