That's true and Luke didn't really care for Brooke at that point since he would have had no issues hurting her if that meant he could be with Peyton. Have you seen the deleted scene from 1.16?

^ I probably did but forgot since I don't re-watch the deleted scenes that much and last time I watched it was probably over 10 years ago, when I listened to the DVD commentaries.

Don't even need to see that deleted scene to know that Lucas really didn't care when he was hurting Brooke in season 1 since that was displayed on screen....

Yep and it's why I can't really buy BL in S2.

^ The main problem for me is that both speeches in 2.10 hinted at real strong feelings that had been there for a while and it didn't fit Luke's relationship with Brooke since they barely had hangout at that point and he barely cared about her in S1. They both just fitted Leyton way more for me and that episode would have made more sense to me if Luke turned at Peyton's door at the end of that episode.
