Maroon5 - Pop or Rock?
Do you consider Maroon5 to be Pop or Rock? Or neither?
I'm still not sure yet, I refuse to believe Maroon5 is Pop, but it's not really Rock either.... hmm.... |

good question... really good... i asked myself too: is maroon 5 pop or rock? well, it's like bon jovi... it's more rock, but they can be pop as well... especially when it comes to the newer softsongs.
maroon 5' "she will be loved" isn't at all rock,... it's pop and i like the mix between pop/rock. so i'd definetly go with pop/rock more rock than pop... Sam __________________

I consider them Soul Rock. I think that the Soul funk is still in all their music (remnants of what they intended the band to be in the first place).
I think they're borderline pop, too... I mean, some songs sound like they could be written for Justin Timberlake. __________________

Neither I guess. It's not at all pop and well, I couldn't really categorize M5 in rock either because really, I think their music is different, and maybe a bit weird, since I haven't really heard anything like that before. I mean if we look at other bands like um, N-Sync, we know right away it's pop. Or if we listen to Muse, well it would be rock. I dunno, maybe funk like PYRO said. Yeah, it fits better.

I'd say they're more pop than rock on most songs but certain songs (she will be loved) but other, (Not coming home) are more rock

It's definitely not pop - I consider pop to be Britney and boy bands.
It's rock, but with that special soul edge. __________________

I consider their music to be kinda pop/rock, but, I'd say it'd lean more towards the rock genre. That's good cuz I also consider pop to be like Britney Spears or N'sync.

I've always described them as R&B/Rock. A funky, soulful rock. Adam has said in interviews that he got a lot of inspiration from artists like Stevie Wonder, so I'd say its a blend of rock and soul.

I can't really pigeonhole them into any specific category, though I like both pop and rock I don't really think M5 is either.
I agree with what Ashleigh said about the "special soul edge", that's a good way to put it. I guess there transitional. They can go from one genre to another easily. __________________
