Kara's Flowers ( pre-Maroon 5) Appreciation #1 - Everyone has a past

This thread is for the band that Maroon 5 was back in the day. Ryan, Adam, Mickey and Jesse were the members. Kara's Flowers release their only record in 1997 called "The Fourth World". There was no keyboard, therefore, Jesse played a guitar. They sounded pop-rockish sort of like the Beatles.

You can order the Rhino Records 2004 reissue of "The Fourth World" at amazon.com

more Kara's Flowers photos here

Two of my fave KF songs are "Oliver" and "To Her, with Love."

I downloaded a lot of Kara's Flowers songs.

Simple kind of loving is one of my favourites. Sometimes I don't even know if a song is Maroon5 or Kara's Flowers.

I've only been able to listen to a few songs of theirs, but I liked them. I think I'm going to buy the CD soon. They had a very unique sound, not that isn't unique now, but in a different way. If that makes sense.

Simple Kind of Loving does rock.

They also made another album, Stagg Street Rec., but that wasn't released. It also rocks. lol.

RAD: You guys started out as Kara’s Flowers, what is the story behind the name?

Adam: That was another story about a girl. When were freshmen we were all fondling over this girl; we all brought her flowers on her birthday; and started the band that night. We thought it was an appropriate name for the band.

I thought that was interesting.

Exactly. But I guess they find woman very important, first they name the band after one, then they name the album after one.
