Almost Here 4. A Little Too Late 5. Be Strong ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Awards 2004 ARIA No.1 Awards Gaining No. 1 position on the ARIA album charts: Mistaken Identity Gaining No. 1 position on the ARIA single charts: Out of the Blue, Almost Here ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In Her Words "In "Mistaken Identity" I sing 'I played the role of the nice girl next door who gets cut like a knife', I mention 'emotional suicide' in "Electric Storm": there's some intense lyrics in there. It was an intense year. I mean, it wouldn't be right if I didn't acknowledge what went on; everyone knows what went on. I feel like I know people personally even though I don't, but I feel I had to go into depth; get things out of the way, go through the journey and end with "You Are My Rock", which is a thank you song." "I really felt the sky was the limit with this record, you could do anything in a song. I didn't feel limited at all. There were a lot more options, a lot more paths I could go down, more directions I could choose." "I felt I had to be really honest. Songs that people could still relate to but songs that also confronted issues. This past chapter of my life has been such an intense one and I wanted people to know my thoughts." "My music changed because my life had changed; the whole world around me had changed. My music had to reflect that." "There's a definite story in the tracklisting." "There are a lot of lyrics I wouldn't have used on the first album." "It's a more grown up album." Previous Threads: #1 #2 Original Post: Quote:
Extraordinary Day has always been a favourite track of mine off this album. I heard the Extraordinary Demo a few months back when it appeared online, it has a different appeal than the album version. Unfortunately I lost it when my laptop crashed a little while ago. Last edited by shinebrighterxx; 10-10-2014 at 10:15 PM |

Aw that's a shame that you don't have it anymore, I've never heard it or even heard of it I don't think! I wonder if Evie has it?

Have yall been listening to the album that much lately? I listened to a handful of tracks the other week but Delta's taken up most of my listening time.

I haven't been listening to it as much as 'Delta' lately but I often put at least a song or two on from it.

I've actually been listening to tracks off MI more frequently than any others lately. Maybe it's because I've been in the sort of mood that seems to call for introspective songs like The Analyst or Mistaken Identity.
But I have to say - listening to the album from start to finish again, you realize that it has a very different feel from the others. I don't want to dismiss 'Delta', because I do love that album very much...but I just think of MI (especially the lyrics) as deeper and more mature. |

Yeah I definitely think it has a lot more depth.

Personally speaking, when I discovered Delta, she was in the MI stage. So the songs on that album are really the ones that I first heard from her and reflect the initial experience I had of her as an artist. Maybe that's what makes that album so special for me.

Aw yeah. Plus, MI was the newest album for so long so we were listening to it for ages and know the songs inside out and stuff.

I feel like the piano had a heavier influence on her music on this album as well, it's still evident on the 'Delta' album, but not as much!

Maybe it's 'cos she had more time to tinker on the keys, rather than rush rush rush like with IE.
