CHANGING faces . . . Delta Goodrem wowed US music industry chiefs with a hot new look.

WHEN Delta Goodrem stepped out at an A-list do in New York this week, no one was left in doubt about how far the ''girl next door'' has come recently.

Strolling the red carpet at the Jorge Posada Foundation 7th Annual Heroes of Hope Gala this week, Delta looked stunning in a floor-length sapphire gown - even drawing praise from one of the world's toughest bloggers, Perez Hilton.

Perez gushed on his popular site: "From the red nails and the matching shoes to the lips and flawless makeup, the jewellery!, the hair, the dress. Perfection from head to toe!"

It wasn't that long ago - 2003 to be exact - when Delta was sporting a boyish bob after successfully battling cancer. And more recently there was the homely, girl-next-door look, like when she sang at the Commonwealth Games.

Over the years her curly locks have grown back, allowing a radical new image just about every month. Or so it sometimes seems.

She has also slimmed down from time to time, most noticeably when she appeared looking gaunt on the cover of Cosmopolitan magazine. And she has put those kilos back on - like when she took on the role of the irritatingly perfect schoolgirl in 2005 flick Hating Alison Ashley.

All that hard work is finally paying off as Goodrem continues her impressive onslaught in the US.

Her warm reception at the A-list social was a coup for Goodrem, who has been trying to crack the ultra-competitive American market for years.

A month from the US release of her self-titled hit album, the former Neighbours hottie has already featured on the cover of Vegas magazine in the US and performed for a roomful of industry heavyweights at The Palazzo last Saturday night.

Hmm...the article might be wrong, could've sworn I read that Delta would be performing at The Palazzo this coming Saturday!

It's so funny reading these articles about how she's trying to crack it over there, and that it's so competitive..she's so amazing, it's just odd to think that they haven't a clue.

THEY are some of Australia's glamour goddesses so it was appropriate that they channel the sirens of yester-year for a sexy spread.

Six Aussie babes, including Kristy Hinze and Delta Goodrem, undergo the transformation in this month's Cosmopolitan magazine and the results are stunning - from Goodrem's re-creation of a famous Brigitte Bardot pose to Hinze's Grace Kelly moment.

And Goodrem's Bardot homage was particularly significant. Like Delta, Bardot overcame breast cancer at the height of her career.

"When Brigitte was in her early 20s, like I am, she seemed to possess a carefree, naïve sexuality, so I tried to adopt that playfulness in my shots.," Delta says.

"I love discovering and learning about strong women who have left indelible marks on eras.

"I was also surprised and inspired to learn that Brigitte was a cancer survivor (like me)."

Others who opt for an old-school glamour makeover include Lara Bingle as a stunning Marilyn Monroe, Gracie Otto as Twiggy and Jodi Gordon as a sultry Ava Gardner.

"I loved Ava's style ... very old Hollywood with big, beautiful dresses, classic curls and those dark lips," Jodi tells the mag.

"With the makeup and dark lighting, I felt seriously sexy."
