"I wanna thank you all for coming here today to honor and to celebrate my daughter Melissa. I had to pray before I came up here. I had to ask God for the courage to stand here before you and do the most difficult thing I've ever done in my life. And I realise now, as I look out at all the familiar faces, that God sent that courage to me in the form of your strog and loving presence. I don't know how I can begin to say good-bye to the person I loved most in this world - my beautiful little girl. I don't know what I can tell you about Missy that would do justice to her spirit and her light. I guess I'll just start with the most important things: She loved Cheerleading. She loved chocolate chip cookies. She loved coming her each week to here me preach. She said, it made her proud. She took extra care to say that to me on those semi rare occasions when I really screw something up. There's a story in Matthew IX. of a father who brings Jesus to his daughter who has died. And as Jesus looks down at the girl, he says to the crowd with loving compassion, hes says: "Depart! For the girl is not dead but sleeping. And through her faith, she is awakened." Well, Missy strayed from her faith. She strayed from her God. And now she will never be awakened again. My little girl drifted down the path towards temptation, towards that dark world of sin, the ultimate sinner world from which yo can never return in this life where that I could have saved her, that I coul've reached out to her, and steadied her and put her back on her path towards the light. I only wish that somehow, through his grace, that her soul will now be set free. Please pray with me: (bla bla bla)" I might have got some words wrong because english is not my native language. Now lets discuss the episode. Last week, we had a great mess-up-episode which was naturally followed by a clean-up-episode. And naturally as well, cleaning up is less fun than messing things up. And thid led to an episode that was good average - not less, but also not more. I also found it a little weak, that those three kids who had to be in serious shock, came up with this story in that short time before the ploice came. And also, the plot twist with Randy waking up didn't do anything for me. A little too over-dramatic.I liked how Jack was the hero once more. Though I sadly get the feeling, that the writers are working towards Jack's suicide. (<- NO SPOILER, JUST SPECULATION!!!) He takes all this stuff on him and carries that burden with grace (no pun intended ). I just feel like sooner or later, he has to blow up. I hope I'm not right on this one. And if I am, I hope it won't be too soon. But still, I think he did the right thing. Marcus would be seriously flamed and living with his guilt will be hard enough on him. Bobby's plot kind of surprised me. I'm curious how he will go on without Warren. Maybe they'll ressurrect Deena? After all, she liked him and now that Warren's gone, Bobby could go for her. I really liked, how they connected the two stories (J/M/C, B/W) with the future Warren. Again, a great idea which highlichts once more how great the concept of this show is. Oh yes, and Warren's last line truly rocked. ![]() Laterz | |||
