The profoundness of moments

Someone at my university wrote an opinion article about Jack & Bobby and it talked about how the show's premise is based upon the idea that the moments that are happening now are significant.

Essentially, the show is saying that what happens to today's teenagers is important to the future of this country and what we're experiencing today has far reaching consequences.

I think this is pretty progressive (esp. for the WB) and though some people have argued that J&B is right leaning and conservative, I think the premise of the show contradicts that idea.

I was wondering what others think about this. Esp. with regards to J&B as a post-9/11 show and with the current elections.

I do think that's the show's premise; but I think they're going about saying it in a really bad way. I really don't see much significance so far in the present day events. What does apologizing to a janitor have to do with freezing in the middle of a debate and having someone else save your ass for you instead?

I think that this is the kind of show that requires alot of looking back. Like right now some of ths story arcs don't seem to affect the future, but I feel that once we've everything that we'll be able to make the necessary connections to the future events. I think it has been just as important to find significance in the stories among just the present day scenes.

It's not really profound, but I find it funny that sometimes I feel like I'm watching Everwood when J&B is on. The background score always makes me think of that. I finally read the credits at the end, and noticed that both shows use the same music composer. So they have the same writers, actors, and music. These two should be on the same night too.

Yeah, Everwood and J&B could balance each other better than J&B and Smallville. But, to be more on topic, is anyone curious if the hunting incident will change Bobby's relationship with Peter?

The relationship may become strained as a result of the hunting trip, but Bobby really looks up to him and might even voice his feelings after some time passes.

Yeah. I thought the expression on Peter's face after Grace told him how much Bobby liked him was interesting. Like he hadn't known before. I can see a really nice friendship/closeness between them as time goes on. he could be a really important person for Bobby.

I think this show brings a refreshing change on TV, simply because it is like no other. There is a very realistic quality to the show that I find endearing. Jack & Bobby has been introduced at a very important time, because in today's world we need to be aware of what is going on around us -- politically speaking and also generally aware. We need to recognize the fact that the world is changing and that people are often the cause of it. Politics & Leadership are an extemely sensitive issue to some, but I feel that a show -- a WB show of all things -- expressing these ideas has been needed for a while now.

I completely agree - I think J&B has opened my eyes to forms of politics that I wasn't extremely interested in and I love the concept of how the past can shape your future
