Peter Benedict/John Slattery Appreciation#2: Who says curls aren't suave and sexy?!

Welcome to the appreciation thread for Peter Benedict, Grace's conservative, off-putting employer, and John Slattery, the under-appreciated actor who plays him. Discussing Peter is the norm, but feel free to love John's other characters, like Dennis on ED, Sam on Will and Grace, Michael on Judging Amy, or any others.

Into The Woods:

Time Out Of Life:

Quotes:

Pilot:

(Jack spies someone moving into the President's house and hands the keyboard to Bobby)
Bobby: That's where the college president lives. The new one's moving in soon. Mom says he's a money-grubbing whore.

(Outside the party, Grace walks into a man)
Grace: Oh, gosh.
Peter: Sorry.
Grace: Sorry.
Peter: The party still going on?
Grace: Oh, God, save yourself. If you came for the entertainment, you're out of luck. That windbag Benedict? Didn't even bother to show up. And the rest of them? Embalmed.
Peter: Really, that bad, huh?
Grace: Worse, but hey. Party hearty.
Peter: You walking home?
Grace: Huh?
Peter: Alone?
Grace: The muggers are all students, they'd be scared to attack me.
Peter: Oh, wait a second. I'll walk with you.
Grace: What? Miss your first faculty party?
Peter: Well, like you said, the old windbag didn't even show up. What kind of party's that?
Grace: (Smiling) Okay.

Grace: Then they had to go and hire this President Benedict, this money grubbing whore. His sole talent is for streamlining and revenue increase! I mean, a University is not a widget company!
Peter: No!
Grace: No! And what has this guy ever done, except make money and destroy departments, right? Oh, but he looks got on paper! He's got his MBA, he's got his unblemished record!
Peter: What *has* this guy done?
Grace: I don't know, I can't recite the specifics, but he was one of the six faceless candidates on the shortlist, you know, each one less distinguished than the last. And I know enough to know what was in his CV. Ugh, please. A vast, safe banality all the decrepit trustees could embrace. Oh yeah, I know this guy.
Peter: Wow.

Peter: I'm Peter. Benedict. But! My friends? All call me the money grubbing whore. Goodnight, Grace.

Better Days:

Peter: Grace, I'm a Republican, I'm not a Communist. Say whatever you want.
Grace: Oh, God. You're a Republican?!

Running Scared:

Bobby: If somebody's doing something that's bad for them, and you know about it, do you have to, like, tell somebody?
Peter: I appreciate your concern, but I know what I'm doing.
Bobby: I wasn't talking about that. Check. But what if, say, somebody, had something that was wrong with them. And it could get worse, but they didn't want anybody to know about it.
Peter: You say something.
Bobby: But what if they'll think that you did it for some other reason?
Peter: Like what?
Bobby: Like it would be better for you, somehow?
Peter: Huh. But you're convinced it's in this person's best interests?
Bobby: I think so.
Peter: That is what is known as a moral quandary.
Bobby: Does it have an answer?
Peter: You have to decide whether you value that person's well-being more than their feelings towards you. They might think you're selfish or self interested, whatever. But they'll still be better off. You have to have the courage of your convictions.
Bobby: Kinda hoping you'd just give me the answer.
Peter: Sounds like you know the answer. You just have to listen to that inner voice. Be brave enough to hear it.

We definitely need this one: "Grace I'm a Republican, not a Communist.

(not sure where exactly he said "Grace" in there so you might have to check on that) I couldn't remember if he said "I'm a Republican "Grace", not a Communist." or the 1st way I had it.

Sir Hottypants!

Cat you're gonna love me! I just stumbled upon some pics from RM!! They are most of one of the other actors, James Frain, but some of John. The pics are of James' storyline.

Yeah sadly though there are none of the *good* pictures of John, and you know what I mean!

John's storyline had to do with he and his friend (the other guy at the table) and some girls they dated. Their story was totally separate from James'.

This movie was made in '96 I think or '97 or '98 () so his hair was definitely dyed. I remember he started to gray in his late 20's. He was on the show "Homefront" so you could see it then. But it ended up benefiting him in the end.

His hair is great no matter the color. I really don't care that he greyed earlier. I mean, look at Richard Gere! Hasn't stopped him from being yummy.

OMG I feel the same way about his hair. He looks great no matter what. And Yes, Richard Gere!

A few years back John did a play up in Syracuse, NY with Sam Waterson (love him and L&O!!), and some other people, called "Long Day's Journy into Night". Sadly I wasn't in NY to see it or I'd have been there! Here's a pic:

I'm turning into a picture stalker
I can't help it, I'm just good at finding these things!
