14# Whats your fav play (theater)?
The best play that I've ever seen was the National's production of Mourning Becomes Electra. Stunning play that kept me at the edge of my seat for the entire 4 hours. The complexity of the plot, the greek tragedy style of it, coupled with the backdrop of the end of the Civil War... Oh it's magic. It is a shame that this play is so rarely performed due to its length.

And the acting! Oh I could rave about that for hours, I really could. Let me tell you that I felt chills go up my spine when Christine (played by Helen Mirren) has a breakdown shortly before she kills herself. One of the most incredible things I have ever witnessed. The final act of the play was amazing too, with Lavinia (christine's daughter) and her brother in the house, how Lavinia takes on her mother's mannerisms entirely and then gets her brother to kill himself. Brrr. Amazing. Truely Amazing.

I actually just now ran a search for the play because I couldn't remember the name of the daughter and one of the links that came up is for the National Theatre's production of this play, the one that I went to see. Clicky.

it also greatly amuses me to write this post with the avatar that i'm currently using. "real actresses don't make films."

have i mentioned that this is fun?

I think that my guilty TV pleasure has always been Melrose Place. I am a huge fan. I'm not going to deny it. I have been for years and continue to be. When I heard that Melrose was going to be released on DVD, I literally jumped around going 'woohoo' for five minutes. It's all about michael and kimberly and sydney baby. I laugh and hurl comments at the tv when I'm watching. Whenever Michael, Kim or Syd do something that is 'morally wrong', I go 'yeah!'. Who needs goodie two shoes when they're fictional. Also, for the record: Drunk!Allison is far more entertaining than post-rehab!Allison.

Bad movies are an occasional craving of mine, like chocolate... Because I tend to watch/buy films for the cast or the director, I seem to aquire a fair number of questionable movies. This is made worse when I actually like them, not because they're good but because they might have a few entertaining scenes in them, or an actor is hot in them, or they're just so bad that they're good again. A classic examples of these are lifetime movies. Full on dire weapies they are too. One of them is called Chance of a Lifetime. I think it was made in 1991 or there abouts. It's got Rue McClanahan in it (giving a really great drama performance) and Samantha Mathis. It's sad as anything (cancer.daughter's death. mother finishing daughter's book). I've seen it so often that my tape flickers in places. The other film is called The Other Woman, and I only watched/taped it because of Laura Leighton. The film is awful, but Laura is pretty and there is this one line in it that's fab: 'even us bimbos need our beauty sleep.'

Hmm. What other films do I love that I really shouldn't... I love Bond films. Huge Bond fan am I. My favourite Bond is On Her Magesty's Secret Service. Diana Rigg is the best Bond girl ever!!! The latest Bond film broke my heart. It was so wrong, so bad, because it stepped over that fine line that Bond rides between real and ridiculous. The invisible car? the tsunami surfing. Gagme.

Music... I suppose Avril. I must be the oldest person to like Avril. But I do.

I also love reading Tintin comics. In fact, I collected some rather rare ones when I was younger. I've kept them all and I regularly reread them in the holidays. It's interesting how one's take on them changes, how I now see the political aspects of the character and Herge the person.

I'm honestly not in to paintings and painters. Not at all. So I don't have one. The super-diligent painting styles of the 17th and 18th centuries amaze me though...

Question #20: When you were a little kid, what did you wanna be when you grew up?

So, who wants the seat next?

could I survive: yes. But. would i want to? absolutely not. It is those people around us who make life so much more rewarding.

Sunny. sunnysunnysunshine. I like to laze around in the garden in a bikini top and shorts and read a book.

I wanted to be a herpetologist. When I said this, I had to explain to most grown ups what this was. It is someone who specialises in reptiles.
