ALL NEW! Friends with Benefits: Episode Discussion (4/13/05)

Friends with Benefits

Fresh | wednesday | 9/8c

Jack (Matt Long) finds out that Bobby (Logan Lerman) has secretly decided to try out for the track team and instantly shows his disapproval. Later, Jack finds out that his relationship with Katie (guest star Kate Mara) isn't what he thought it was and is shocked to find out that Courtney (Jessica Pare) and Marcus (Edwin Hodge) may have feelings for each other. Meanwhile, Grace's (Christine Lahti) excitement to be the opening speaker at an event for her mentor turns to disappointment when she is asked not to speak due to her scandalous relationship with Tom (guest star Bradley Cooper, who does not appear in the episode).

John Slattery and Keri Lynn Pratt also star. Sheldon Larry directed the episode written by Jonathan Lisco.

ME TOO!! And I'm not even able to watch it here. I'm still excited though and it's been a very long hiatus.

"Scandalous relationship" What are they talking about?!?!?

Wow! Great ep, and I really mean it. For starters, Jack/Katie!!! How great were they?! Katie is my dearest darling, exactly like a younger Grace. As for Grace herself, she was looking lovely, and I nearly kissed the screen!!! I've missed her so much!! Her storyline was interesting too (and finally, some Peter scenes!) and I had a strong urge to beat Edelman, although I do agree with SOME of the things he said. The scene with Jack and Grace was lovely, I always cheer when they get along. Bobby's plot was actually bearable to me. I thought it was pretty well thought out. As for J/M........well, I think Missy was a bitch to rat out C/M, but hey, we all did that in high school. As for C/M themselves, I really like them. Good to see Court smile and Marcus get a decent storyline. Jack blowing up at them was comletely uncalled for, though. I enjoyed the futureheads in this ep, cause, I admit it, I never saw the "plan" thing coming. And I recognized the guy who played Byrne! Tragically, no Tom, but glad to hear him be referenced. And while I'm at it, I LOATHE Margaret. Evil little pinprick......I loved it when Grace was trying to sneak away, though.

Next week.....Oh, great, Missy's pregnant, Grace is being her usual wonderful self, and the Belknaps are morons.

I J/K so much but looks like it will be ruined next week and it's official Missy is a scheming bitch.

Pam: What are you doing? What do you expect me to say to that?
Jim: I just needed you to know. Once.

Why did J&B have to go with the teen pregnancy route? Why?

Margaret mocked Tom's footnotes. Cat is going to come out swinging.

I enjoyed the episode ... but something felt off.

The mocking of the footnotes............. I hate her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's funny you thought it was off, Ken. I actually thought it was better than RS, the last return-from-hiatus ep. I don't know why. Maybe because it was a fairly light ep, gearing up for some grittier ones to come. I liked it because, while gritty is good, it also gives me a heartattack, and it was nice to just relax with some lightness.

I'm having a total "Circle of Friends" flashback here. I don't think she's pregnent with Jack's baby. It's got to be Randy's.
I love Katie too. She rocks. I hope they keep her around for a long time.

Ok I haven't seen the episode so I'm going to refrain from posting for a little while so I can read what everyone has written so far!

General -In general this episode was lacking for the greatness of some of the episodes before us. It was a more like a slow paced episode to bring us back into the topics. Next week's episode seems like it will pick up the pace.

Jack/Katie - At first I was upset with Katie. The FWB act is not something I agree with. I'm glad that Jack didn't really like it all that much either. If you can't have all of someone then why bother? Jack messing around with Missy is less then something I would have liked to see him do. However, their feelings still run strong no matter even if he sees it or not. When he was talking to Katie and she told him she mad it up. I felt with the weight of his mistake with Missy. He thought Katie was out doing the same thing and was feeling a kind of need for vengence IMO. Now, he feels like an ass. This can't lead anywhere good between Katie and Jack. She was thinking he might be different from most guys and now... she might see him as being the same.

Marcus/Courtney -He likes her and she likes him. That has been proven tonight. However, Marcus followed the code. He is a true friend refusing to answer that question and slow down the friendship because of Jack. Marcus, is one of the best characters on the show. I'm glad that he is being given more time to show that to the fans.

Grace -I felt bad for her but I think her mentor had a point. She needs to be out there and put herself out there. Become someone of such a great character that no-one would even think to bring the "affair" into it.

Jack/Bobby -Jack was hurt by Bobby, trying out for track and lashed out.. both typical and realistic. In the end, his mother the person he dislikes the most...showed him the lights. Jack better learn to start appreciate the fact that his mother shows him the light. She has moved him and helped him become this fine human being. I wish he would see that. However, he won't what teenager really does see that in their parents?

Missy - She has been growing in this episode somewhat. Being less of a air-head that some thought she was. She is growing up and in fact seeing things in a clearer light. Did she do a wrong for C/M? Maybe... Courtney never told her who and Jack was bound to see things IMO. She just made them come sooner... As for her and Jack. She wants Jack and also wanted to feel something in that episode. She is lost with was said with her group meeting...
