Answer!

the reason they put in tony stark at the end of the incredible hulk is partially and almost certainly to set up for the avengers movie in 2011. originally, the avengers (ironman, captain america, and i believe thor) banded together to fight the hulk (who later becomes one of the avengers, i THINK), which is why louis letterier the director left the nature of bruce/the hulk ambiguous at the end of the movie by having edward norton smirk in the very last shot, he said he wanted to leave it open for whoever was doing the avengers movie to decide whether or not they wanted to make bruce/the hulk a villian or not. we don't know if edward norton is going to come back for the movie or whether or not there will be an incredible hulk sequel in the future, either.

Poor Hulk! Batman, Iron Man, even Wolverine get more sequel press than he does. But late last week, Tim Blake Nelson revealed to MTV that he had signed for Hulk sequels, with every intention of taking the villainous center stage as The Leader. But like the rest of us, he has no idea whether or not they'll come to be, or whether or not Edward Norton will return. "It's all good, and I really do hope [the sequel] happens, for all sorts of reasons. But yeah, we did, we had a great time on Hulk together. I'm eager to do Hulk 2 if they make it ... I'm signed on to do Hulk 2 and 3 whether Edward's there or not, so it's not even up to me ... I certainly hope Edward is on the sequel - but that's up to Marvel and Edward."

With Marvel planning on putting together some of its superheroes in one movie, "The Avengers", many wonder whether the writers for the individual superhero films, including "Iron Man 2", "The First Avenger: Captain America" and "Thor", have started a discussion to make all the story connected. "Iron Man 2" screenwriter Justin Theroux has revealed to MTV News that they have yet to open any talks regarding the matter.

"You know, there's No dialogue right now - in a great way," the "Tropic Thunder" co-scripter shared, adding, "I think [Marvel Studios President] Kevin Feige just wants to make sure we can make the best movie that we can make." He further added that the studio have yet to force him to make the stories connected. He insisted, "No, not yet. But that being said, Kevin is in all the meetings for all the movies, and is the sort of connective tissue - the neurons

They join forces to fight enemies no single hero can battle alone. So what possible villain could be big enough, strong enough, or crazy enough to go against the combined powers of Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Ant-Man, and the rest of The Avengers? How about no villain at all, “Incredible Hulk” director Louis Leterrier wondered, but a hero?

[Spoiler Warning for those who don’t wish to know anything about "The Incredible Hulk"]

“I would love to see [the Hulk become the villain that fights the Avengers] because I think the best villains are always the ones whose agenda you understand,” he enthused. “They’re not synthetic to us in a way; they’re not these one dimensional bad guys.”

The Hulk being instrumental to the formation of The Avengers isn’t actually a new idea — in fact, it’s precisely the reason the team formed way back when Stan Lee and Jack Kirby first started the comic in 1963. Leterrier wanted to make sure he gave the next “Avengers” captain, whether it be him, Jon Favreau, or someone else, the same opportunity.

“That’s why I left the door open for whoever’s going to direct ‘The Avengers’ with our last shot. Edward and I, we consciously decided to make the last shot of the movie when he opens his eyes and he smirks at the camera,” Leterrier said. “Is he enjoying it? Is he malicious? That’s what’s great about Edward. You don’t know if he’s a good guy or bad guy. He’s always on this edge and we’ve been sort of surfing that edge, that very thin edge during the entire movie.”

“So that last shot of the movie, if you decide that he’s smiling, in control, then he’s a good guy, that’s ‘The Hulk 2,’” he continued. “If Hulk is a failure, then he looks up and smirks and that’s eventually the Hulk of the Avengers — the uncontrollable beast that they need to team up to stop.”

“The Avengers” movie is tentatively scheduled for 2011, and that’s plenty of time to figure it out, Leterrier said. And the best way to do that? Let the fans decide, he said.

“I would listen to the fans before I listen to the box office,” Leterrier insisted. “They are the reason why these movies successful.”

I'm probably going to rent this movie tonight. I don't know why I haven't seen it yet. I'm a big comic book geek.

On the comics board, people overall preferred Liv to Jennifer C.

The ending has me kind of excited about the movie. I'm not really a Hulk fan, as much as I like Marvel comics.
