Zoë Rivas/Ana Golja #2: Everyone is entitled to her opinion.

Fetching, fierce and totally fashion-forward, former West Drive star Zoë made quite the splash when she arrived at Degrassi. She looks fabulous at all times and never misses a chance to offend her onlookers. Zoë gets what Zoë wants! But not always... When Zoë was left vulnerable and humiliated after a huge party-gone-wrong, she found herself in a very dark place. But in true Zoë Rivas form, she is determined to climb back up that social ladder and regain her queen bee crown. It's that easy, right? (teennick)

I can…: Be adored
I can’t…: Fail
QOTD: “Everyone is entitled to my opinion.”
#DailyThought: #Winning

Reasons (Zoe)
1. Because her confidence, while it sometimes gets her in trouble, is an admirable trait.
2. Because she's "not a victim. People need to stop treating me like I am."
3. Because with Zoe you never know what to expect.
4. Because she and bff Tristan tell it like it is.
5. Because as terrible as she can be, it is hard not to feel for her when her heart aches.
6. Because there is a little bit of Zoe in all of us.
7. Because her sexual assault episode arc was memorable.
8. Because we didn't know what hit us.

Reasons (Ana)
1. Because turn on your TV and there she will be.
2. Because the way she acts with her eyes is incredible.
3. Because her first kiss was with Eric while "rehearsing" a kissing scene between Zoe and Miles.
4. Because she is straight forward about her feelings for a crush.
5. Because her most memorable family vacation is a trip to Italy.
6. Because her nickname is Ana Banana. Of course.
7. Because she auditioned for Imogen and Tailia but TPTB decided Zoe was the fit for her.
8. Because she hopes that others realize it never is too late to ask for help.

Awesome OP, co-Mod. Thanks for starting. :D

Oh and this was posted at the end of the last thread, but I don't want it to get lost because it's a great quote. :D

 At times she was a real monster. I was fearing for Vijay's life in gym class! I think my palms were sweating for Hunter when he was pitching his idea for the intramural alternative. I think maybe the intimidation factor was amped up for the scene and it worked so well. It felt like Zoe and Tristan were heads of some corporation, not high school. Still have week 2 to watch and I'm expecting that they take things too far and lose their council spots.

JustMe2000 01-21-2016 10:14 AM

She really can't help sabotaging herself, can she? It can make for some frustrating viewing, but very interesting as well.

kaleidocat 01-21-2016 01:22 PM

Zoe started out sweet and supportive! She was a great campaign manager for Tristan and supportive of Grace. She just always takes things too far. But that's our Zoe!

More media to add to the pile of things I need to read/watch.

JustMe2000 01-22-2016 11:10 AM

A little late on this, but congrats to Ana for her CSA nomination! Now if could just see the movie. :P

And you may enjoy this little thing...

Congrats! And a happy early birthday to Ana as well...she's turning 20 next week!

JustMe2000 01-31-2016 07:43 PM

Today was the big day, and here are a few of the many birthday wishes:

Gotta say, I always like seeing her with Andre. Maybe I have a Zoe/Winston ship buried within me. :D

A birthday wish from Aislinn that is too sweet to pass by:

aislinnpaul Happy 20th Ana!!!! Despite being an old soul, you are still saying goodbye to your teens today. Welcome to the next decade! You work harder than most people I know and I am so excited for what the future holds for you. Enjoy today and every day after 💕

JustMe2000 02-05-2016 10:30 PM

That movie is going to air in every other country in the world before it airs in the US.

Felt really bad for Zoe with the grace storyline. Grace either really led her on, or is lying to her about not being gay. Either one is terrible. Zoe really put herself out there with grace and Honestly deserves an apology from her IMO. I feel like Zoe looked like the bad guy because of what happened with zig. And grace was just let off the hook. She didn't even seem apologetic much.

JustMe2000 02-24-2016 12:08 PM

So, let's follow along, shall we?

Muazana. Okay, well, that's that. :)

May I be added? Newly (obsessed) fan.

I'm a year younger than Miriam McDonald, so I pretty much stopped watching NextGen when they fazed out that original cast. I only got back into Next Class when I saw that Netflix had picked it up. I don't remember how, but I came across an article discussing Zoe's sexual assault plot, caught some of Ana's interviews and was instantly charmed. I find her very charismatic, and eloquent for her age.

After binging Next Class, I went back to watch seasons 13 and 14, and really loved Zoe. What I like about her is that she's not necessarily likable. She's a very challenging character, which makes her interesting and complex. And real. Not everyone we meet has a "likability" factor and I find her characterization honest and human. I may not like/agree with what she says/does majority of the time, but I completely understand and empathize with her motivations. Plus, I think Ana elevates whatever material they give her. She and Sara Waisglass are the two strongest female performers of this cast by my barometer.

After basically consuming everything there is to know about Ana that's on the internet, I'm incredibly impressed with how accomplished and motivated she is. She makes me tired. lol Also impressed to learn that in addition to her acting, singing, dancing, and other musical abilities, she has legit theatre work under her belt (I mean, she's starred in a Andrew Lloyd Webber production of The Sound of Music). I have no doubts, she'll end up pulling a Dobrev and blow up stateside. Maybe not a meteoric rise, but she'll have great success after her Degrassi years. She seems very poised for it.

And sorry for my novel. It's easy for me to ramble. I'm Jade, btw. (I also LOVE her legal name: beautiful and unique)

kaleidocat 03-09-2016 09:45 PM

 I'll add you Jade! Welcome!

theanagolja Was such an honour to be nominated! Felt like a princess in my @mikaeldofficial gown! Congrats to my fave, @aislinnpaul on her win. Love you!
Ps, horayyyy team @degrassi ! We took home 4 awards tonight! 🎉💃🏻👊🏼 #CanadianScreenAwards @academy_net

Wait was Ana nominated for Unbelievable? Damn, sorry that she lost. Did she lose to Aislinn? At least they kept it in the Degrassi family.
