Degrassi - What do you want to happen in season eight?

I noticed there was a thread like this for season six in the thread guide, and with season seven almost dieing down now, I was just wondering what everyone wants to see in season eight.

Well I think it's going to be pretty weird with all the new character's in the school and not to mention who's all not going to be returning, but I will give it a shot and see how it is anyway....

So personally something I want to see is them do the alcoholism storyline with Ellie. I REALLY want them to do it and for them to do it right at that matter.

Also for some interesting plot twists and storylines involving the old characters from Degrassi. Hopefully, we'll get to see them all once again.

if sean gets back together he should fall in love with jay. hehe
i want emma and damien to still be in a relationship

The Ellie vs. alcohol story would be awesome. It would be so tough for her with her mother and all. Very interesting to watch.

I'd also like to see Sean/Emma together, but I want it done right.. not rushed.. nice buildup. And I want them back together for good.

EXCUSE ME, Craig is Sean's one and only bitch. Who else has Sean saved from speeding trains? They are in love.

Okay, Season 8. You guys are crazy with your couples.

Personally, I've warmed up to most of the Lakehurst kids and am looking forward to seeing them on screen more. I'm especially interested in the Mia, Lucas, Jane, Johnny group. I like the history that's been set up between the kids and they are just sitting ducks to be featured in main storylines. As long as it's done right, people should warmly embrace them. I think that it will happen best if they are given issue storylines that are written well. Honestly until season 7 Spin and Darcy were on my lukewarm feelings list and I was so impressed by how much I was moved by their storylines. If written right, they could do the same thing with one of the newbies or semi-newbies. I know that Etalk interview with new cast members has A LOT of people nervous, myself included, but I'm hoping that was just a move made to try to get us to warm up to them.

For new characters I'd like to see more fringe kids. Kids that don't fit into the social scene. Kids with problems. LOTS OF PROBLEMS. As long as I get one bat**** crazy character I will watch. I think I might be more of a casual watcher next season but I will watch...as long they keep the show issue orientated and continue this dark feeling that we've seen in seasons 4 and 7.

Of course, I'd love to see a Craig/Ashley plot thrown in somewhere. Or a mini. I want to see the Kerwin/Issacs reaction to Ashley taking off to go on tour with Craig. Kate Kerwin is probably having a breakdown. Seeing her have tension with Craig would be a fabulous way to bring in his issues of feeling abandoned too because I'm sure he'd want to belong with their family. Total Crashyness.

I agree with LidelKewte on wanting Ellie's drinking to get more serious. Drunk driving/DUI could be tackled maybe?

But like what you and LidelKewte mentioned.. that is something that must be dealt with. It seems like we didn't get into Ellie's drinking issues and hopefully once season 8 takes off, this will be an issue that is brought to attention.

Drunk driving and a DUI are yet to be covered on TNG too. Same for alcoholism with a younger character. I think it would be perfect for Ellie and REALLY interesting considering her mom's history, plus Ellie hasn't gotten a GOOD storyline for a while. And JG would be good foreshadowing. I was disappointed they didn't actually follow up with it after that. But maybe it would be better if it was in season8. Then they can play this storyline out slow and right. I hope.

Word. And I want more unique characters on the show. I think we need more that aren't involved in school activity's and don't care about popularity and all that ****. I think we need a total slut on the show lol. I want to see someone that sleeps around alot and see's sex exactly as it is and doesn't get attached.

These characters in the E-talk thing just don't seem interesting at all. I know I still have to watch to find out, but I'm just saying. And I know they said something about Mia going into a transformation and stuff and from my guess that means she gets really popular and gets like this huge ego which I really don't want. I kind of like how she's really down to earth.

A quirky kids show about high school. Dealing with both tough and funny issues. That's Degrassi.

People say that season 8 "doesn't feel like Degrassi anymore." I completely disagree. Season 6 wasn't Degrassi. Season 8 will be.

How? They don't go to Degrassi anymore. Why would they still be in a show called "Degrassi"?

In 1987, there was a show called Degrassi. Manny, Spinner, etc. weren't in that show, but it was still Degrassi. Just because they're gone doesn't mean it's not Degrassi anymore.

I've ALWAYS wanted a female character like that. A Rayanne Graff from My So-Called Life type character. Someone who is introduced right off the bat as a "slut" and then we slowly get to know her. But she's got to have the ideas that sex is just sex and not of this oh this one night stand happened because I love him. I just really want kids that aren't so clean cut on the show. I know Degrassi has always been pretty wholesome but I just want them to bring a little bit of edge to it.

I don't think they can go back to the way it once was, not now. To go from all the melodrama and intense issues to something like seasons 1 and 2 would just not work for the majority of the audience. But maybe you just mean going back to the setting of high school. I think it could work but they've got to make smart casting choices. A lot of the new cast seems to be lacking charisma or something, but I guess we'll see. Maybe it would help the writers to go just back to high school cause I think they have a tendency to make the younger kids more immature than they should be in an effort to make the university ones seem older. I'm not sure.

I understand people wanting to see their favorites around but I think the longer they are keeping them around, the more they are hurting the characters. I'm kind of surprised at the number of people who are saying they won't watch if their favorites aren't on the show. I thought that I would be one of those people but all my favorites have been on and off the show since season 4 and I'm still here. I think the season 7 handling of issues is what probably saved it.

Exactly. Personally, I think that they are running out of storylines. With the exception of a couple of episodes here and there, the majority of the graduate storylines have not been very good. I think it's time to move on. Yes, it's sad to see the old cast leave. But it's been 7 years. Thats a long time. I think 724 will be the end of an era. Now its time to start another!

And I actually do agree with you about the new characters. With the exception of Jane, they're all really pretty and popular. I guess this is because they built the new characters around Mia though. From what I've heard, a lot of the new cast are different ethnicities. Plus with 8 new characters there has to be someone edgy and interesting. So I'm hopeful.
