Degrassi - What do you want to happen in Season 9?

We'll on the verge of the new season and while we've seen promos and heard some spoilers, there's still a lot we don't know. What issues do you want to see dealt with? Relationships? Storylines for individual characters? Anything you can think of....or as you might say, the title of the thread says it all.

I hope that season 9 is more focused on the issues. And hopefully the issues are built up well and not introduced and solved in one episode. I don't mind seeing issues repeated, such as drug problems or abuse, because every character is an individual and reacts differently to situations.

I'd like it if this season was darker. Season 8 had an innocent vibe to it and I didn't mind that but now the kids are a year older and they dip into some heavier issues.

I've always liked to see the parent/child relationship, even though I know the basic relationships on the show are peer to peer. I just like seeing how the different families function. I'd like to meet Riley's parents the most. I think that might explain some of his rage and self hatred. I'm trying not to expect too much from his story because I'm afraid I'll be disappointed. I've always said I wanted a Brad/Patrick from Perks of a Wallflower type relationship for him (Riley is in a secret relationship with an openly gay character who is in an entirely different social group and is caught by his father - who reacts violently).

I'm wonder if the introduction of what look like rich kids Fiona and Declan will start to explore how cliques form. Last season it seemed to be more the athlete/populars vs the brains in the gifted class.

I too am most interested in Riley's home life. I never read that book but I really like that idea of Rileys father reacting that way and being a violent man. Although I am not sure if Degrassi would go there. But I can see Rileys dad being the kind that pushes him to be an athlete and win. I would love it if he had older brothers that were athletes so he feels like he has to follow in their footsteps to impress his father and that would be part of the reason why he has to put up that "real man image". I just hope not to be disappointed with it either. Riley is just a great character and has SO much potential for good storylines.

Thats one of the things I didn't like about last season-- most of the characters seemed to be in the Athlete/Popular group or the Brains/Dorky kids and not really any others. I want some more unique characters--kids that don't fit in to either groups,more outcasts,kids that aren't all involved in school activities.

kaleidocat, I was looking at the "What do you want in season8" thread and we were talking about how we wanted a character that saw sex for what it was and didn't get attached, and actually slept around (not like how on the show sometimes a characters will sleep with one person and its like "omgz what a slut!!!"). And you mentioned how you would like to see a Rayanne Graft from My So Called Life type of character. I would still LOOOVE to see a character like that. Which also brings me to say, we still need an alcoholic at degrassi too.

Yeah, I'd like to see Riley's parents as well.
& maybe other parents that we've yet to see, like Anya's
and I hope they give Anya an interesting story/serious issue other than Sav based story for her

I would like either Sav or Alli (or both) to deal with racism against them.

Hmm Idk what else.. I guess I'd like an STD storyline revolving around Declan.
