staceyfarber I've been on the road (and hard to track) since I left college. To continue auditioning, paying for extended trips to LA, and working in several cities across the continent, I lived in 14 furnished apartments over the last 8 years. I had a few roommates, but was mostly alone. Some spaces belonged to friends who left town or eventual ex-boyfriends, others were rented from friends of friends and strangers I met online. Years ago, I was interviewed by the Hollywood Reporter for an article about sublets during pilot season— their journalist considered me an expert on the subject. I was both proud of and embarrassed by that. Typing now, I realize I've rented a studio for the last year and a half from the same woman who referred me to that writer. Weird coincidence. Anyway. I hated continually packing up my **** to relocate, but considered domesticity a sacrifice for my career. Movement was part of the hustle and any discomfort pushed me forward—physically and emotionally. It helped me grow. This week, I signed a lease of my own for the very first time and today, I turned 30. I don't own property. No kids yet. I'm not pregnant, married, nor engaged. I want a bed frame, and I really need a colander! Still, I feel great where I'm at and ****ing grateful for what I've got. My [emo] birthday-inspired message to any younger followers here (though I guess it applies to everyone) is this: Do you, in your own way, on a schedule that makes sense for what you want most from your life. Be hungry, but patient and kind en route. Lateral moves are good, too. Approach your climb as though the course ahead is shaped less like a ladder or a mountain and more like a jungle gym, if that feels better. Your journey can be whatever you want it to be because there are no rules.✌🏻✨🕸🌱😘
