Season Three Discussion: Sean stole! Snake shaved! Ellie cut! Spike popped! Terri bounced!
Aw, Season Three...back when Toby and Hazel declared their love by making out; Manny briefly ate for two (although only on side of the border); Spin, Paige & Ashley (almost) ate and ran, making their getaway in Dylan's car; Marco screamed like a banshee in the woods for some reason; Rick stormed away- although not for good and no one got up in JT's fries.
It's when Joey and Jimmy jammed in Note H; Amy's Avril impression went over like a led balloon; Craig found his Floyd fashion sense; Angie decided Aunty Caitlin's phone would taste better than her porridge; Towerz talked, well actually no he didn't; Chris did talk, few understood and Emma and Alex needed to simmer down. And it's also when Jay corrupted his first "innocent" Degrassi student; Liberty was a bad ass edgy butter knife; Kendra was just sorta there and Raditch and Hot Sauce had a hot make-out session. What? Watch the deleted scenes, people! So there were a few things that happened in this season that.....might have divided some fans. Let's not get too much into that, but I'm sure we got plenty to talk about here. So........ Go __________________

That deleted scene just came out of nowhere. I guess Dan Woods wanted to get some action before he left the show.

I have a love/hate relationship with this season, so it's not my favorite, even though I know it's one of the popular ones.
LOVED: Jaitlin reunion! I don't care how cheesy it was. Lots of J.T. screentime. Cutesy Spaige RRHS-- enjoyed both songs Jazel WTAS, Father Figure, Gangsta Gangsta Jalex Didn't entirely love: Manny's transformation. She was my favorite...until this season. Sometimes Toby's screentime didn't do it for me, like when he was "stalking" Terri Bouncing Terri...shouldn't have been funny but... Some of the triangle was nicely written Characters of Sydney and Chris Liberty dating Towerz Dislike or irritated me: cheating Craig "Guilty as charged". Forever cemented my indifference towards Darco. POL as a finale...would've enjoyed it more as an episode I probably watch these episodes more in reruns than any other, though, so perhaps that does say something. __________________

That "stalking" Terri plot really was kind of weird. I guess they were showing us how much better a pretend "creep" could be than the real kind that we would later see.
I always thought Sydney got a bit of a bum rap, at least in the way they took her from point A to point Z without stopping at many spots in between. __________________

Sydney...ah...the bane of Jaitlin reunion!
If she hadn't been so...constricting as she was I think it might have lasted longer. However I think Sydney and Craig could've had issues, she seemed controlling and Craig was used to being around controlling parentals. That might have been interesting to watch. |

Spinner's Rap was the best song in RRHS.
Sydney and Craig would have been hot. Oh, wrong thread... __________________

I loved this season for numerous reasons. I loved it is because it was a lot more mature than 1 & 2, but not to over the top. Plus this was still back when everyone had their own individual style and it wasn't all glamed up like from season4 and beyond. And also....
The Ashley/Craig/Manny love triangle, and of course Craig/Manny. Accidents Will Happen. Father Figure. Pride and just Marco's screen time in general that season....after this season he got boring. Lots of Spaige and Jazel. Ellie's cutting storyline. The classic Spinner/Jimmy moments. And of course...Jay and Alex, because they were the best thing to ever happen to this show. |

I think that not airing AWH was the best thing The N could've done to increase Degrassi's popularity. After that every American teenager wanted to see it. I even remember there was an article in The Toronto Star up here that my Mom saved for me. It just made Degrassi that much cooler.
But aside from all the controversy, I think that that episode is just brillant. Cassie was only 13 when she shot that! She's amazing. My favourite episode of season 3 is WTAS though. Of course __________________

Stalker Toby That part made me laugh.
AWH is one of my favorites. I read some article about it somewhere online while doing a search on Cassie where she said she was shocked about Manny's decision. I think she did a fairly decent job in that episode, too. It had to be hard to be 13 and do that episode. I had no idea about the controversy in it though...and I agree. The N might've known what they were doing keeping the ep under wraps, but it's kind of silly considering how many kids probably downloaded it anyway. |

Abortion's such a touchy issue, at least here in the US. Since Maude did it back in the 1970's, you can probably count the prime time TV shows that have had a character have a guilt free/no regret abortion on one hand. I strongly suspect that decision not to air it came from above The N on the Viacom corporate tree.
