^ True. Friendships don't seem very important this season. They started something with Imogen/Becky but it looks like they're focusing more on Imogen/Jack in the previews.

Too bad. Friendships are more fun. There are so many more adventures teens can go on with their friends vs. their boyfriend/girlfriend.

Like hitting the strip club! Or awkwardly hugging it out!

Actually these two were probably the last time we actually had a plot about putting friends above significant others. Mo was pretty distraught to lose Jake. Probably because he realized that he's have other girlfriends but friends are people you try so hard to keep in your life and at that age you have everything in the world working against that goal.

I was all whaaat...then I remembered Open Heart. Did their characters interact?

I'm one episode behind, and I don't think they had interacted through the episodes I'd seen. I'm still laughing at the casting of Dylan Everett as a "bad boy."

I don't know how much the show does ad libbed lines, but I could easily see Jake doing more than any of the other cast members.

So what was their first scene together? Why can't I remember how they became friends...Katie and Marisol?

According to the Degrassi Wiki:

In Hollaback Girl (1), Mo confides in Jake about Marisol’s ‘official’ comment and admits that they’ve never gone on a real date. Jake suggests that Mo take Marisol out and make it really official.

I don't remember their early scenes either (everything becomes blurred when you're coming up to 500 episodes in the franchise!), but what I do remember is just how natural they were together right from the start. One of the many disappointments about their characters' short time on the show is that we didn't get to see more of their friendship.

So if Mo was elected student council prez would he pick Jake as his vice? I don't know if anything would have gotten done but it would have made for some hilarious story lines. I'm sure they would have learned their lesson and become more responsible...unless if they exposed the position for what it is - kind of a joke - and then we never have another election plot on Degrassi again.

All I can envision is Clare getting pissed off at them as they're stoned at one of those student council meetings.
