(Emma worked quickly, stopping the flow of blood. Thankfully, it seemed that the bullet had grazed his arm as opposed to actually hitting him. The real danger was in the blood he was losing).

RICK: I'm losing patience, Emma. (takes a step closer)

EMMA: There. (finishes up and goes to stand)

SEAN: (grabs her hand lightly) Go. Go now, Emma.

EMMA: (shaking his head, then quietly speaks) I can't carry you, not fast enough to get away from Rick. And... I won't leave you. You protected me. I'm going to protect you.

RICK: (starts walking toward them) Emma, why are you talking to him...

SEAN: (wincing in a momentary spasm of pain) Please. Protect me by leaving.

EMMA: That doesn't make sense...

(Rick gets closer)

SEAN: (takes her hand and kisses the inside) I want you to be safe.

(Emma slowly understands what he was saying. If she left, she would be safe. And she would be protecting his heart. Still, she couldn't leave him with Rick. Rick wouldn't hurt her too much, right? Not like he would hurt Sean. He would kill Sean! No, she had to stay)

EMMA: Sean...

(As Rick meets them he grabs Emma up by her hair, shaking her roughly) I didn't say you could speak to him.

EMMA: (tears falling down her face) I'm sorry, I...

SEAN: (he tries to sit up but fails) Em...

RICK: (kicks Sean in the stomach before beginning to drag Emma back down the hallway again, this time by her hair) That was a mistake. I won't make anymore mistakes with you, my love...

SEAN: (clutching his stomach with his good arm, again watching Emma and Rick trail away) Emma...

(With strength he didn't know he possessed he somehow found his way to his feet. One agonizing step after another, clutching the wall for support, he started making his way to Emma. )
