There's some great bloopers for an audition she recorded in her IG story. And she has a new song out, along with a video showcasing a way to get around social distancing on what looks to be a shoestring budget.


somachhaya- NEW MUSIC! I just released a new song today called “Cancer." This is the first time I’ve ever done the production of a song and I’m very proud of myself. This song was inspired by a mix of The Beach Boys and Lana Del Rey. You can stream it on any platform!!! It would mean the world to me if you listened. It’s a very personal song dedicated to all the Cancers out there!!

A few things I took away from Soma live with Richard (does this thing have a name yet):

- Richard and Dante had this discussion on being an independent music artist vs being signed. Soma disagreed with them and said she would like to be signed and surrender some creative control. She would trust her team to know what it takes to please fans. And she wants to make them happy.

- Favorite scene to film: Hijab being ripped off. She had never done a choreographed scene/stunts before and new things are exciting.

- Soma and Richard became friends on the trip to Ecuador. There's a bond over music.

- Soma is "single as a ****ing pringle." Richard is not.

- Someone wanted the dirt on the transition between networks but the two of them skirted around that. Richard had a nice speech about how when they transitioned from TeenNick to Netflix, he felt like he was becoming a senior in high school. A nice metaphor on growing up.

- Soma's favorite character is Goldi.

- Filming her first episode was her best memory.

- Most embarrassing was filming a scene while snacking on crackers. "Soma, can you like not eat and talk at the same time? Is this an issue?"

It's her birthday today, celebrating 23 on the 24th, and with that she gives us a new single, giving out some advice in the title.

Thanks for the bump. Now I will finally post some highlights from her Instagram Live on Monday.

- She has a new song coming out called Parasite. It is a collaboration but the song is from her perspective. She noticed that she doesn't stand up for herself as much as she would like. She feels regretful about that. She said the song is about revenge.

- She wishes that the Winston and Goldi friendship was developed more on screen. Wanted us to see the beginning, details.

- She thinks that Winston/Goldi would have worked as a romantic relationship and that Winston would have respected Goldi's restrictions. (she said a lot more but my notes and head are bare, damn it this is why I should have done this a few days ago)

- She would have liked to play Fiona cause she's rich, sassy, and layered.

- I asked about her being a fan of Poppy and got my answers! She has been a Poppy fan since she was That Poppy. Her favorite old Poppy song is Money and new Poppy is I Disagree.

- Her all time favorite music artist Miley Cyrus and she inspired her to become vegan.

- Favorite superhero is Batwoman.

- Favorite TV show is MTV's Scream.

- She misses Toronto's Indian culture. It felt like a community there.

Yeah, I do remember discussing that. I'm glad to see it eventually got released somewhere.

Speaking of things being released, here's the art work for her next single "Parasite," due out on August 21st. It's a self described revenge song so I hope you don't have a guilty conscience.
